Anger. Still courses through my veins at Clara getting the promotion I've worked so hard. I've done everything the company has asked of me and the excuse that the senior partner gave me was a load of bullshit.

They just did what they do all the time and that overlooks what's in front of them.

I hope Clara fails at this promotion and then have no choice but to let me be named partner.

Clara's blonde hair whips around her face as she laughs at something one of our coworkers said to her. Her blue eyes sparkle in the light as it hits her face.

The caked-on make-up she has on her face makes her look like a cheap slut. One who's ready to open her legs for a senior partner.

I know for a fact that she's been fucking one of them. I just need to find out which one. The fucked up thing is that all the partners are married. She could ruin a family and marriage if she continues down this path.

I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure that I find everything I can on this woman and bring to the board attention because there's no way I'm going to let this go.

Not until I get what is rightfully mine.

Dean nudges my shoulder while I'm sending daggers her way. "I won't say it again, Austin. Congratulate the girl and get it over and done with. Then you can get out of this room and show us what you're made of." He walks further into the room and stops next to Clara.

Clara's eyes widen at something Dean tells her and then she turns my way. "Excuse me. I have someone to talk to." She walks through the crowd.

Damn it. Since I'm not going to go over to her they thought it was best for her to come to me.

I'm so tempted to run out the door instead of being here and doing the one thing I don't have to ability to do that's to say 'good luck' in you left the new role.

Fingers crossed she gets knocked over by a car.

Clara gets closer to me and she looks a little scared. She looks like a deer caught in a headlight. (I think that's the saying) if it's not you know what I mean.

Clearing my throat I say. "I don't mean what I'm about to say."

She crosses her arms. "I know, Austin. You believed this job was in the bag for you. Not everything goes Mr Wilde's way and he gets a little pissed."

Wow. She's got a backbone. I wonder where all this sass came from. She never had it before.

Looking her in the eyes I say. "Congrats on the promotion. I'd say break a leg, but we both know you're not an actress. So, my parting words will be. I hope you get hit by a bus." With that, I walk out of the conference room and head towards mine.

When I get to my room I see a client sitting in the chair and she spins around looking in my direction. "Hi, Mr Wilde. I'm..." she cuts herself off as she looks closer at me. "Austin,"

My eyes open as I look at the woman in front of me.

It's Eliza's sister, Kat.

"Katrina, what are you doing here?"

"My boss told me you were representing him in the case. How's it coming along?"

"Actually," I rub the back of my neck. I haven't made any progress in it. There's a lot more information I need on the lawsuit from your boss."

"Tell me what you need and I'll have them delivered here this afternoon. We also need this case sorted ASAP. There's a huge deal we're in the middle of handling and it can't ruin what's going on."

"I'll put it on my priority list. I'll have it down before I go away for a month."

"You're taking a month off? When?"

"In a couple of weeks. I'm going to my high school reunion and spending time with my parents. I never go home now. My job is more important than anything else."

"Okay, so you've got a couple of weeks before you leave. I hope you can get this dismissed before that." She stands up and walks to the door. Stopping at the door she turns towards me. "Call me when it's done, Austin." Katrina walks out the door without looking back at me.

Going through the files on my desk I look for the one for Kat's company. When I get find I put it on top of the others.

I'm going to get this one done first and then I'll sort out all the others before I go on holidays.

Riiing, riiing.

The phone rings on the desk and I pick it up. "Hello, this is Austin."

"Mr Wilde I have Glenda Jerome on the phone for you. She wants to discuss her case with you."

"Okay, put her through."  I go through the files until I find her files and I have it in front of me as she's put through on the other line.

I talk to Glenda about her case and she hen we've come to an agreement I hang up with a smile on my face.

Before I know it it's lunchtime and I call my secretary to get me something to eat.

There's a knock on the door and Kat enters my office with the paperwork. She places them on the table for me. "Here are the papers you asked for."

Taking them from her I look at it. "Thanks, Kat. I'll look at these after lunch."

Just then the door opens and my secretary walks through the door. "Austin, I have your lunch." She moves across the room and places it on the desk."

"Thanks," I open the bag and pull the burger out.

Kat looks at her phone. "I have to go. I'll see you later." She walks out of the office.

" She walks out of the office
