Slamming the empty glass on the bar I yell. "I want another one." I pick up some nuts that are on the bar and start eating them.
Riiing, riiing, my phone goes off and I look at the caller ID and see my brother's name flash across the screen. Hitting the ignore button I let the call go right to voicemail.
The bartender puts another glass in front of me. "I'm cutting you off after this one. It looks like you've had a hard time with it. Do you want to talk?"
"Sure," picking up the glass I take a long drink. "over six months ago I went to a ten-year reunion where I got back in touch with my high school sweetheart. I left my fiance here in the city and cheated on her with the girl back home. I was going to move this girl to the City with me until my fiance called and told me she was pregnant."
"Fucking hell," He shakes his head. "This stories going to end badly isn't it?"
"It sure is. Anyway, I left my high school sweetheart shattered after I lied to her. I returned to the City to be with my fiance. Things were going great until her water broke." Closing my eyes I grab the glass and squeeze it. "She gave birth an hour ago and I found out the child's not mine. I paid for everything for that kid and when I get home I have a room with baby stuff in it and no baby."
"I'm sorry, mate. That must be hard."
"It is. The most fucked up part about all of this is she wanted revenge on something that happened when we were kids. Something that wasn't in our control."
"Like what?"
"My high school sweetheart and I were lifeguards at the lake and her sister drowned. We got to her as fast as we could and pulled her to the dock. She performed CPR on the girl and when the paramedics arrived they did the same thing, but she was later pronounced dead."
"Damn, that must be hard for you to know this." He looks down at the bar and sees a guy waving him over. "I have other people to attend to. Ring a taxi to pick you up. I don't want you driving home."
"Okay," I finish the drink and leave cash on the bar. Stumbling outside I pull my phone out and call Calvin.
Calvin: Austin, what's going on?
Me: She lied.
Calvin: What do you mean?Me: The baby wasn't mine.
Calvin: Where are you?
Me: At a pub.Calvin: Stay there. I'll pick you up.
Me: I'm fine to drive.
Calvin: No, you're not. Stay there, Austin. If you don't I'm going to kick your ass.Me: Fine, I'll see you soon. I'll send you the address.
Pulling the maps up on my phone I send them to my brother. That way he'll know exactly where to find me.
Me: I'm in the parking lot in my car.
Calvin: See you in ten minutes.Calvin hangs up and I unlock the car. My body begins to shake as the cold gets to me. when I breathe I see cold air come out of my mouth. As soon as I get into the car I turn the heater on to stay warm.
Leaning my head against the headrest I close my eyes.
"Austin." Someone slaps me lightly against the cheek. "Austin, wake up."
Opening my eyes I see my brother standing on the opposite side. He has a pair of keys in his hands. "Let's get you home."
Shaking my head I look at my brother and say. "Don't take me back there. I don't want to see the baby's room." I open the car door and step outside.
Calvin helps me to his car and then he walks back to mine. checking to see if there are any breakables or there's money in the glove compartment. After he's satisfied he locks the car and walks over to his. He puts his seatbelt on and pulls away from the gutter. "My wife and kids are going to be excited to see you again, Austin. They've been asking since we last saw you at that market in town."
A smile spreads across my face. "I miss those kids. They would have been great cousins to..." I cut myself off as I'm reminded that they don't have a cousin coming their way any time soon.
I'm all alone and I hate it.

It takes half an hour to get to my brother's place. He pulls the car onto his street and says. "My wife and kids were looking forward to seeing your child and I don't have the heart to tell them that they don't have a cousin."
Looking out the window I see a two-story house with a white picket fence. There's a swing set in the front yard with toys across the grass area. "I'll talk to them tomorrow. Right now I just want to go to my room and sleep."
Calvin pulls to a stop in front of the garage. He presses the remote and the garage door goes up. Once it up he pulls the car inside the garage and hits the remote to shut the door.
Stepping out of the car I walk over to the door that leads inside. I open it and walk through the house. When I get to the kitchen I'm greeted by Calvin's wife Amara. "Hey, Austin. How are you?"
Smiling at her half. "I'm feeling terrible. Can we talk about it in the morning?" I see a bottle of bourbon sitting on the counter. Grabbing it I head to the spare bedroom. Opening the door I step into a room that's a beige colour and the curtains match it. A King size bed is next to the window and the blinds are pulled down. I flip the light on and close the door, before making my way over to the bed. I sit on it and open the bourbon bottle. Taking a long drink of it I think back to all the times I was blinded by Casey.
*flashback*
Casey's blonde hair is straightened and she's wearing a blood-red dress that looks great against her sun-kissed skin. She's standing with a group of men from my office, laughing at what was just said. She waves with her fingers, before saying something to the group and laughing with them.Making my way through the crowd with two glasses of champagne. I stop next to my fiance and whisper a few words in her ears, which causes her to laugh. "This is for you." I give her the drink. "There's a few more people I want you to meet, Casey."
She loops her hand through my arm and lets me lead her through the crowd. She looks over at my boss and licks her lips. Lowering her voice she whispers. "He's hot. For an old guy. If he was younger I would fuck him."
Looking into her blue eyes I say. "You don't mean that, Casey. You're saying this stuff to make me jealous."
"No, I'm not. I would sleep with him. I have a high sex drive and when I need to fuck I fuck." She hiccups after downing her fifth drink of the night. She's drunk. That's why she's carrying on like this. She wouldn't cheat on me and hurt me like this.
*end flashback*
Later on, I found out that she had sex with my boss and it was the best she's ever had. Yet, she still found more people to fall her and she probably ruined a lot of men's lives along the way.
I'm one of the men she ruined. I don't know if I'll ever be the same. Just like Eliza's not the same after I Shattered her. Eliza's Shattered and I'm Ruined. This happened in eight months.
