March
Waking up I feel the bed shift as my fiancé, Casey climbs out of the bed and makes her way to the bathroom. She closes the door gently behind her.
She's going to give birth to our child in the upcoming days and I can't wait to see my child. It's the one thing that's been keeping me going since I left Eliza.
I know I shouldn't be thinking about her, but I still love her. I'm with Casey so she'll leave Eliza alone.
Sitting on the bed I remember the way I left things with the only woman I've ever loved. I had to say all those things to make her hate me and not want to take me back ever. My life belongs to this woman and child.
*Flashback*
Eliza takes a step toward me and says. "Are we leaving today?"
"No," I breathe deeply. "You don't need to pack, Eliza."
"Oh, okay," she sounds disappointed. "Do you want me to book a flight for next week or-"
Cutting her off I raise my voice, trying to get my point across to her. "You aren't coming with me."
"W-what?" She stutters and her shoulder slump forward.
Turning towards her I look into her blue eyes that are starting to water over.
She shakes her head and tears begin to build up.
Taking a step forward, she takes a step back.
"Don't. P-Please don't." Her voice is shaky and I know she doesn't like seeming weak in front of me.
Laughing cruelly at her I say. "God, Eliza. You're still as pathetic as you were ten years ago. I call you and you're ready to lie on your back for me. You're nothing but a good lay. Do you think I meant all the things I promised you?"
She looks fragile and her arms wrap around her middle. She tries to make herself seem, strong and I can see right through it.
Stepping forward I make sure that I tower over her. Looking her in the eyes I say. "I didn't mean it all." I make sure that all emotion is wiped from my face. "Leaving you ten years ago was the best thing that happened to me. Truth be told you don't belong in my world." Pulling the robe open I run my hands down her milky white skin. It makes her shiver. "Even after everything I said, you still want me." Again I laugh harshly in her face. "You're pathetic, Eliza."
A sob leaves her throat, tears stream down her cheeks and her lower lip quivers.
Grabbing my keys off the hook I walk out the door without looking back. It slams closed blocking her crying out.
*Flashback Ends*
Casey exits the bathroom a couple of minutes later and looks over at the bed where I'm sitting. "Are you okay?" She makes her way over to me and crawls back into my arms.
Putting a smile on my face I say. "I'm peachy. What do you want to today? I know for one thing I don't want to be stuck in this house."
"Can we go to the mall? I want to get some last-minute things for our child."
"Okay, let's go." I climb out of bed and look through the draws for something to wear. I grab a pair of Levi jeans and a long sleeve black t-shirt.
She starts tapping her feet impatiently. "Can we please leave? I want to buy extra stuff for the baby's room."
We've got more than enough for the baby and I think it needs any more things. It's not like the child will be able to play with any of it.
Before leaving the house I grab the keys from the hook on the wall next to the front door. Holding my hand out to her I say. "Let's get out of here." We walk over to the elevator and I press the button to the basement.
When the elevator gets to the basement we head straight to the car and I unlock the doors.
Casey climbs into the car and puts her seatbelt on.
Climbing into the car I put my seatbelt on and reverse the car out of the parking spot. I drive towards the mall.

When we get to the mall Casey and I step out of the car and we make our way into the building. Before we walk into the store Casey grabs a cart and then looks at me and says. "I'm going to look at the clothes. Can you get me a hot chocolate, please? I'm feeling thirsty."
"Sure," I walk away from her and look for the cafe, which is on the other side of the mall.
At the food court, I order a hot chocolate and latte. It takes a couple of minutes before the drinks are done. I pay for the drinks before heading back to the store where I left Casey.
Casey is standing close to the newborn clothes and picks up a onesie with butterflies on it. She puts it on her stomach before saying. "What do you think baby?"
Watching her from a distance a smile graces her lips. "You like that, huh?"
After that, I walk over to her and say. "Here's your drink. What did the baby say about the onesie?"
"The baby loves it." She takes the drink from me and kisses my cheek. "Can you look somewhere else? I don't need you hovering over me." Casey points to the toys a couple of aisles away from where we're standing.
Moving away from her I look at the toys and the prices are ridiculous. Then out of nowhere, I hear Casey scream my name. "Austin,"
Running over to her I see a wet patch on the ground. "Did your..."
She cuts me off by shrieking. "Yes, my water just broke. Can you take me to the hospital, please?"
We leave our shopping in the cart and wheel it over to the checkout counter. "Excuse me, Miss. My fiancé's water just broke in aisle three close to the baby formula. Can you get someone to clean it up? I wouldn't want someone to hurt themselves."
"Sure, we can do that. What about your groceries?"
"We'll come back for those." Lifting Casey I carry her to the car. When we get to the car I open the door and place her in the front seat. I put the seatbelt on her."
"Fuck," she screams. It's the only word that seems to be in her vocabulary at the moment.
Jumping into the driver's seat I drive us to the hospital. Which is a five-minute car ride from the mall.
Manoeuvring through the streets of the city I head straight to the hospital. I see the sign up ahead and say. "We're nearly there."
She keeps swearing about the pain she's in until we pull into the parking lot of the hospital.
As soon as I park the car I move towards the passenger side door and carry her to the entrance of the hospital.
Once we're inside the hospital we head to the birthing suite. There we check-in and Casey and I are shown to a room.
