Casey's POV
Walking into the law firm I see people walking in and out of offices. They are either wearing suits or skirts with white blouses. Most of the outfits here are modest and what you'd expect out of lawyers.
I'm wearing a mini skirt, a shirt that stops above my belly button that reveals the ring I have in my belly button. Makeup that covers the pimples I have on my face, red lipstick that draws men's attention to my lips.
A corner office door opens and a guy I recognise steps out of the room. He moves towards me. "What are you doing here,
Casey?"Looking this man in the eyes I say. "I have an appointment with Clara at midday. Is there a problem?"
"Of course there's a problem. You come into Austin's workplace looking for another woman that wants to help end his career. What more do you want to take from the man."
Crossing my arms I narrow my eyes at him. "I'm not here about Austin. I've come to seek counsel after my son, Kian, was taken from me by his biological father."
He doesn't give me any sympathy, lowering his voice he says. "That couldn't have happened to a nicer woman. Hurry to her office now. If Austin sees you I won't be holding that man back from anything that he may say and do." He gives me directions to the office and walks in the opposite direction of me.
When I get to the office I knock on the door and wait for Clara to open the door. It swings open and she stands at the door. "Come on in, Casey. I'll set the computer up and got can tell me all about the case."
"Thanks," stepping into the room I take a seat and put some documents on the table for her.
She closes the door and moves back over to her desk. "Austin's in the office today. I'll keep an eye out for him and make sure that he won't see you."
"Okay," leaning forward I grab the birth certificate and push it toward her. "This is Kian's birth certificate. It has both my name and his father's."
"Can you tell me what happened between Clarke and you that led to him taking your son away?"
"Clarke and I left the hospital last Monday to go home, but he got a message on the way home. He pulled the car over to check his phone and there was something on it and he acted calm until he parked in front of a hotel where he dropped me off and kicked me out of the car. He left me at the hotel and drove home with my son. He hasn't answered my calls or messages that I've sent him."
Clara looks across the table at me. "Have you spoken to anyone that knows him? Maybe, they could get through to him."
Shaking my head I say. "He doesn't talk to many people and the ones he does they work for him."
"Do you know who could ruin your chance at a family and everything else?"
"Yes," scrunching my hands into fists.
I know who could have done this. She has been around a lot since the birth of my child. Katrina Donoghue.
I'm going to ruin that woman's life and see how she likes someone interfering in hers.
Clara types stuff onto the computer as she listens to what I'm saying. When she's done she looks at me and says. "I believe we can get your son back. He should be in your custody and not his. I'm going to work on this case day and night until I have a strong case. One that will bring that s.o.b. down for hurting you. What are you going to do about that other male in your life?" She lowers her voice. "Austin,"
"I'm not sure yet. Every time I'm close to doing something someone gets in the way. It's like they're protecting, Austin. I wanted him living in the streets, scrounging for food off the wealthy. He's a piece of crap that deserves no one in his corner." Standing up I pack my stuff. "I should go. If I stay any longer I'm sure
Austin is going to find out that I'm here.""Would that be bad if he found out?"
"Yes," opening the door I start to walk out. "He could call the police on me. I'm sure they're after me because of the fraud I've done with, Austin."
Clara shakes her head. "Casey, you shouldn't have done that. This case will be harder to try. With you possibly facing jail time. If that happens you'll lose you're son and won't be able to see him as you're an unfit mother."
"Just help me get him home." My breasts begin to ache again and it makes me curse. "I have to relieve the tension in my breasts. It's hard not having anywhere for the mile to go after giving birth."
"I'll take you to the restroom." She leads the way down the corridor.
The lift door opens and four cops step out. One wearing a suit and tie. He pulls his cuffs out and says. "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided for you."
Clara steps forward. "I'm her attorney. Casey, don't say anything until I get to the station.
Looking at her I say. "I'm not telling them a thing."
Austin opens the door to his office and he has a smile spread across his face. He mouths. "Karma," to me, before turning his attention to the man standing close to him.
Struggling with the cuffs in I yell. "Eliza's pregnant, Austin. She's the one that's carrying your child. How does it feel knowing that your real child won't get to know you?
People have their phones and are taking photos of me.
I hate that I'm on display to all these people. I wish they would just leave me alone.
The lift door opens and I'm pushed in by the detective.
"What's your name? I ask him.
"Detective Hogan. Is there anything else that I can help you with?"
Shaking my head. "No, just wanted to know the name of the guy that arrested me. You know I'll be out of the station in a couple of hours."
Detective hogan folds his arms around his body. "No, you're not. We've been building a case on you, Miss Jackson and there's a lot of people you've screwed over in the years."
I haven't screwed anyone over. It's them that have screwed me. They take what they want and don't expect anything back.
It doesn't take long until I'm in the car heading towards the police station. During the car ride, I keep asking questions and annoying the shit out of everyone.
Eventually, the music is turned up loud so they can block me from talking to them. Moving my hand behind my back I try to undo the cuffs.
When I was younger my uncle taught me how to get out of them, but it's been a while since I've tried.
I just hope I don't suck at it.
