One week later

Things haven't been easy for the last week, with the police still trying to track Casey down. It's like she disappeared from the city and I'm losing hope that I'll get my money and property money back because of that woman.

I've been staying with Calvin and his family, which is something I didn't want to do as I don't want to rely on them.

Ding,

Pulling my phone out of my pocket I see a message from Dean.

Dean: Are you coming in today? I have a case that needs urgent attention.

Me: Yes, I'll be in. You can count on me to look over that case when I get it. All my attention will be on it.

Dean: Great, see you soon.

Walking into the kitchen I see Amara standing over the stove cooking something. She looks over at me and smiles. "Hey, Austin. I'm making bacon and eggs. Do you want some?"

"Sure, do you think you'll be able to make it to go? I have to get to the office. The partner has an important case that needs my attention."

"It's nearly done." She moves across the kitchen and grabs a container from in the cupboard. Putting it on the table she starts to put the food in the container. The toast pops up and she wraps it in foil. "Do you want some leftovers for lunch? We have fried rice left from last night's dinner."

A smile spreads across my face. "That sounds nice. Thanks for taking care of me, Amara. I don't intend to stay here much longer."

"Austin, you don't need to leave anytime soon. We love having you here. The kids don't want their uncle to leave anytime, either. They've been having fun with you. Can you babysit tonight? I want to go on a date with Calvin?"

"What time is dinner? I'll make sure that I'm home in plenty of time of you leaving."

"The tables booked for seven." She gives me a bag that has all the food in it. "Have a good day at work."

"I will, Bye." Just before I walk out the door I grab my keys out of the dish by the door. As I open the door the kids run down the stairs. "Bye, Uncle Austin."

"Bye," I give each of them a kiss, before closing the door and heading to my car. Opening the car door I climb inside.

As I'm reversing out of the driveway I see my brother. He waves at me as I head to work.

Pulling my car into the parking lot I find my parking spot and park the car. Grabbing my briefcase and food I climb out of the car. Locking up I head towards the elevator and wait for it to stops in the garage. It doesn't take long before the doors open.

"Hold the doors." A female yells.

Looking in the direction of the call I see Clara. She stops moving for a moment before she continues the run to the elevator. Once she's inside I press the button for our floor.

Clara clears her throat. "Hey, Austin. It's good to see you back at work. I was wondering when you'd be back. How's the baby?"

"The baby isn't mine. So, I wouldn't know how he's doing. We never gave him a name, but I'm sure she did with the baby's father. I'm not going to talk about this subject anymore. Besides, it's none of your business." When the elevator doors open I head straight to Dean's office.

A smile spreads across his face as he looks at me. "Hey. Austin. Take a seat and I'll get what you need."

Taking a seat across from him. I pull my food out of the container and put it on Dean's desk. Placing the food on the plate I turn towards Dean. "Do you want some of this? My sister-in-law made breakfast this morning. She's an amazing cook?"

"Sure, it's been a long time since I've had a good home-cooked breakfast. My wife used to leave eggs on the table with directions on how to cook them. It was charcoaled all the time and eventually, I gave up on cooking." He takes the toast, bacon and eggs from me and starts eating. "Wow, you're sister-in-law sure knows how to cook. You should get her to send more food with you. I'd rather eat this over getting takeout all the time."

"I'll see what I can do." We eat breakfast in silence until everything is gone. I wipe my hands on the serviettes that I bought with me. Grabbing the file I stand up. "I'll look over these files and pay extra attention to the finer details."

"Thank you, Austin. When you finish it I want to have a look at it." He turns back to his computer and starts typing away on it.

Opening the door I walk out of his office head down the hall to mine. I open the door and step inside. Putting the papers on the desk I start my computer and go through the files. A few things need to be changed, so I make the changes. As I'm getting close to finishing it I look out the window and see Casey walk by.

I'm not going to let her get away with what she's done to me.

Lifting my phone I call Detective Hogan. The phone rings a couple of times before he answers.

Detective Hogan: Hello, this is Detective Hogan.

Me: Hey, Detective Hogan. It's Austin

Detective Hogan: We haven't found her yet Austin. There's nothing we can do until she shows up.

Me: She's shown up in my Law Firm.

I give him the address.

Detective Hogan: I'll be there soon. Do you think you'll be able to keep her in the building until I arrive?

Me: Yes, I can do that.

Detective Hogan: Good, I'll see you soon.

He hangs up the phone.

The door to my office opens and Dean walks into the room. "Is everything okay, Austin?"

"It's perfect. I just got off the phone with the Detective. He'll be here soon to arrest Casey. I can't believe that woman is stupid enough to walk into my workplace."

Dean sits across from me. "That's good. Have you started working on your case? The one that's related to Casey Jackson?"

"I've been working on it since last week. I have a lot of people that are willing to tell their stories too. She's conned a lot of people over the years and this case is going to reveal the type of person she is. Karma is going to get her back big time and I can't wait to see that." I push the paperwork towards him. "I made a few changes to some of these to make it easier for the client to understand. Is there anything else you need?"

"No," he stands up. "I'm going to order something for lunch. Do you want anything?"

Lifting the container I say. "Last night's dinner. Chinese. Amara thought I'd like this for lunch and she's not wrong." Opening the container I start to eat the food.
