Casey's POV
"Casey," A female voice calls me. "Please, wake up, Sis. I need to talk to you. You're the only family I have left. I can't go another day not being in your life."Opening my eyes I look at Angela. "You're here. How? You died. The Paramedics told us. Have you seen Ronnie?" I fling my arms around my sister. "I'm glad you're here."
Angela laughs. "You have a lot of questions for me, don't you? I didn't die at the lake."
My mouth drops open for a moment and it hard for me to swallow. I try my best to say something. Eventually, the words come out. "The paramedic told Ronnie and I. Then they took you to hospital. Where Mom had to identify your body. She was destroyed after learning her favourite daughter was gone."
"The FBI trained me on how to lower my heart rate and make it seem like I died. Eliza, did her best when it came to performing CPR. If I needed her help she would have saved me. That's the one thing I want you to know sister. Also, you should make amends with people you've screwed over all these years. I don't think you've screwed your life as much as you think."
Pushing away from my sister I look into the blue eyes that are similar to mine. "You don't know anything, Angela. You've been living a perfect life without me. While I stayed with our Stepfather and mother. They both didn't care about me after you died."
"That's not my fault," Angela says. She points at my kids. "When did that happen? You having Nick's kids?"
My face turns red with embarrassment and I look at the ground. "I was pregnant when you died. I didn't know about it right away. Until I missed two periods and gaining weight. However, I lost the first kid I had with him."
"I'm so sorry." she stands up and moves away from me. "I have no right asking you these questions, Casey. I'm going outside to get a breather." She runs out of the house with tears falling down her face.
She doesn't seem to be the same as she was before everything went down when we were kids. I'm not the same either. I did a lot of fucked up things too.
Walking through the house I head up to my bedroom and grab the envelope that has cash in it. I put it in my purse.
I have to give Austin back his money. It's the least he deserves after the way I've treated him over the years. I never deserved that man. He came from a family that loved him. While I'm from a family that didn't.
"Mommy," my son runs over to me and flings his arms around my legs. His blonde hair flings his eyes.
Kneeling I move the hair from his face. "Hey, Thomas. Do you want a haircut when we leave the house?"
"Yes, please. Nan was supposed to do that tonight." Tears fall down his face. "She's gone isn't she?"
"Yes," I kiss his cheek. "We need to pack some stuff. I'm taking you away from here. Where's your brother and sister?"
"In the bedroom. They're too scared to come out." he pulls me down the hall towards the bedroom. When I get to the room I search for a duffle bag and start packing things for the kids. "Grab your favourite toys. We're not coming back to the house for a while."
"Okay, Mommy." My kids grab their stuffed toys and place them on the bed. Some of the electronics make it to the stuff they want to take with them.
This is the first time since I gave birth to them that I'm allowed to be their mother and Nick isn't watching over my shoulder with the way I act to them. My kids didn't deserve to be treated badly by me.
I feel guilt most of the time I look at them. Nick didn't want them to have too many interactions with me either. He thought I was bad news for our kids. He was the worst influence on them and I'm glad they didn't make it to the age where they would take over the family business. It's not a family business I'd be proud of."
