Calvin and I are standing outside the police station. I look up at the building hating the fact that I have to report Casey to them. I've never had to enter a police station before this moment.
My brother looks at me closely. "Are you okay?"
Shaking my head I say. "Not really. I'm going to look like a fool talking to them. They're probably going to think that I'm an idiot for trusting her. I know I am, but she was my fiancé."
Calvin touches my back and leads me into the building. He walks over to the counter and says. "Excuse me, Sir. I'd like to report a fraud case."
"Okay, I'll just get someone from that department to come out and see you. May I have your name?"
"It's Austin Wilde," I speak up from my brother's side. Walking over to the chair I take a seat and wait for an officer to come out and see me.
Calvin pulls his phone out of his pocket and calls someone. The phone rings a couple of times before someone picks up.
Calvin: Hey, Mom. I need you to come to Los Angeles. There's a lot I need to tell you.
He's quiet for a moment.
Calvin: no, I can't do it on the phone. You should come here.
Something else is said.
Calvin: Thanks, Mom. We'll see you tonight.
He hangs up the phone and puts it in his pocket. "Our parent's need to know what's happening. They can help you too. This is something that I can't deal with alone. Mom and Dad can help more than me."
I don't need my parent's help. They turned their back on me a long time ago and there's no way I'm going to crawl back to them. Calvin can talk to them all he wants.
"You can tell them, brother. I won't be coming over to see them. We both know I'm the last person they'd think about." Standing up I start to pace back and forth.
My phone starts to ring and I look at the caller ID. 'Miguel' flashes across the screen. Picking up the call I say.
Me: Miguel, what do you want?
Miguel: There are a few things you need to know about Casey.
Me: Like what?Miguel: She's a smart woman that knows how to protect herself and the money she takes from victims.
Me: What do you mean by that?
Miguel: You're not the first person she's taken things from. She used a friend of mine, but she didn't know about me until I put myself in her life.Me: Did you fuck her while we were together?
Miguel: Yes, I also pretended to love her. Just to have her steal from me. It wasn't much, but enough money that I noticed.
Me: Can you come forward and help me with my case? The one that I'm going to put against Casey.Miguel: Sure, let me know which one you're at and I'll be there in an hour.
I give him the name of the station.
Miguel: Thanks, I'll see you there. Bye, Austin.
Me: Bye, Miguel.Hanging up I turn towards my brother and say. "It's not the first time that Casey's done this. I wonder if anyone's come forward to tell them what she's done." I start pacing back and forth. "Clarke's going to be the next victim of hers and I don't think she's going to end there. It's best that she gets locked up and then seeks the help she needs."
Calvin moves to my side. "You need to go through the list of guys she knows and sees whether or not they have been through the same thing. She'll get a hard time for all the fraud she's done."
I hope she does. It's the least she deserves.
The door to the interrogation offices open and a male detective steps out. He's wearing a suit. "Austin Wilde."
Moving towards him I say. "That's me. Can my brother come in with me? I need his support."
"That's not a problem. Follow me to the office and I'll take your statement." He leads the way down a corridor. That has rows of officers on the wall. Some of them have passed away while on duty.
When we get into the room there's a detective in the room and she has a computer sitting in front of her. "This is detective Lawrence and I'm detective Hogan."
"Hi," I whisper. Taking a seat across them I look at them and say. "I'd like to report a fraud that's happened to me."
Detective Hogan takes a seat across from me. He places his hand on the table in front of him and says. "Okay, tell me everything you know and I'll make this case my priority. Do you have anyone else that's coming in that's had the same problem?"
"Yes, a guy Miguel is coming within an hour." Looking between them I say. "It all started on Friday night when my fiancé went into labour. We were in the birthing suite when the child was born and I found out the baby wasn't mine."
Detective Lawrence shakes her head. "That's not a fraud. Kid. There's nothing that we can do about her lying to you. What else do you have?"
"This morning I checked my accounts and found they all had money in them. When I went to pay for breakfast this morning one of the cards were declined and the other wasn't. Then this afternoon when I went to the bank I found out that all my accounts were closed and the money has gone. I had over six million in the accounts and all of it is gone. She also sold my condo without my permission." Taking a breath I look at them and watch as Detective Lawrence types up the report."
"What's the name of the woman that we're after?"
"Casey Jackson."
Detective Hogan stands up and starts pacing the room. "This isn't the first time I've heard that name. That girl is smart and knows how to cover her tracks. I'm hoping this time that we can get her. Do you know if she's with anyone?"
"Yes, she's been seeing Clarke. I don't know his last name, but the people that own the condo building should have that information." I give them the name of the owner and they record that.
Calvin scrunches his hands into fists and he looks angry with knowing that everything I worked for is gone and there's a possibility that I won't get it back.
After giving the report Calvin and I leave the police station. Looking at my brother I say, "I'm going back to the hotel. At least I have a place to stay for a couple more. I'll have to give my new account details to work. Or the money won't hit my account." Before we get to the car I call Dean.
The phone rings a couple of times before he answers.
Dean: Hello, Austin. Do you need my help?
Me: I just found out all my accounts were closed and the money was taken. Can I give you my new account details to forward to payroll?
Dean: Sure, I'll make sure they get it ASAP too.
Me: Thanks.I give him the details.
Dean: If there's anything else. Just let me know.
Me: I will. Thanks.Hanging up the phone I climb into my car and take Calvin back to his office.
