Chapter 22, Well That's That

Malfoy Manor, Summer Ball

Richie POV

I stood in the guest room I was staying in for the past few days.  I was fixing my hair with my fingers, smoothing out my dress robes and adjusting the Slytherin ring Orion got me for Boxing Day. I looked great, compared to what I usually look like.  

I heard a knock at the door "Come in"

Orion walked through the door looking very regal.  He looked like royalty, but had a goofy grin on his face.  "You look good mate, you ready?"

I nodded smiling and followed him out to the hall where his siblings were standing and chatting.  

Cal wearing white dress robes, a ring, and his hair tousled. Scorp in grey dress robes, his hair geld back. Aquila had a little makeup in with her hair fishtail plaited back, a light pink dress.  Cowl skirt and a sweetheart neckline, a gold belt aground her waist.  She had a necklace, cuff, and rings on.  Her gold wedges making her taller.  She looked pretty.

We had become more like siblings in the past few days. 

I saw Astoria walk into the hallway, she wore a floor length navy dress with silver block heels, a few rings and necklaces, a touch of makeup, and her hair open in curls.  She gushed over how great we looked as Draco made his way to us.

He looked sophisticated, his grey robes, hair styled, and his rings, made him look important and powerful.  Also very scary and intimidating but fancy.  He smiled and complimented us before announcing the pre-guests were here for dinner.  I was thrown into the "grand entrance", going before the Malfoys.  I walked down and Gabe tried not to snicker at the situation. I gave him a smirk before reaching the end of the stairs.  I moved over to him and Lana standing next to him.  She smiled brightly when seeing me. I clapped Gabe on the back, he laughed and nodded at my appearance as Cal walked to his friends.  

Gabe wore light grey dress robes and his family and Slytherin rings.  Lana stood next to him in a yellow asymmetric neckline, handkerchief dress that contrasted against her tan skin.  A necklace, bracelet, and ring adorning her dainty features, glimmering in the light.  Her block heels bringing her up to my shoulders, just like Aquila.  Her hair open in her natural soft curls.  A bit of makeup highlighting her features. 

She's  beautiful,

"Hey, mate, you clean up well" Gabe's voice brought me out to my thoughts.  

"Never said I couldn't." I joked and he laughed. I turned to Lana

"Hello little Lana," I said twirling her "looking as gorgeous as ever" she giggled and thanked me,

"You look dashing don't you Richie?"

I winked at her "only for you Lana"

She blushed but giggled.  Gabe smirked at me. 

"Save a dance for me?" She giggled again nodding as she went to find her friends.  I sat back with Gabe and chatted as we moved into the dinning hall.

Dinner was fabulous and now we had to do an entrance for the party as vuestra arrived and waited in the gardens.  

Soon the party was in full swing, the band playing, people laughing, chatter, dancing. 

I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned to see a timid Lana.

"You wanted a dance?" 

I smiled holding my hand out to her "my lady"

She laughed "good sir"

I led her to the floor, moving together to the music,

"How do you like your first party?"

"It magical"

She laughed "about 90 percent of this is magic" she pointed out, "we are witches and wizards after all"

I laughed, "you are right"

"Always am," she scoffed playfully and squealed a laugh as I picked her up and turning her around. 

"Are you having fun?"

She nods "right now yes"

I smirked "good"

She made a fake disgusted face "don't smirk, my brothers and father do it enough."

I laughed "whatever you say little Lana."

"I'm not little," she whines, "I'm only  like five years younger"

"So little" she pouted 

"Okay, okay, I'm sorry" I laughed and she instantly smiled.  

"That's more like it"

She giggled

"And for the record, you're four years younger"

She thought for a moment "oh yeah, that's right"

I laughed and twirled her. "Yes it's right."

The song ended and we stopped to move somewhere else in the garden.  

"I'm gonna go with my friends, it was nice dancing with you Richie" she smiled and waved before heading to a group of giggling girls.

"Hey,mate"

I turned to see Orion and Gabe heading towards me "hey"

"I see you we're having a good time" Gabe pointedly looked at his sister while stating that.

"Yeah, you?"

"I'm doing great, having a nice time."

"Same here" Orion chirped in

I nodded "this is great, being with your family is fun."

"You could ask to stay more.  Mum offered me to tell you this morning but I got side tracked."

"I nodded, I'll send a letter in the morning."

He nodded.  "So those dance lessons work out?"

"Yeah, mate, thanks for that"

"Eh no problem,"

The rest of the night was spent dancing and laughing.  

This was an amazing experience, the dance lessons could be useful in the future.  But the overall feel of being there and feeling carefree was exceptionally fantastic.  I would definitely have to come to another one.
