Dom POV:
For the past two weeks we've been in correspondence with our parents about the nursery and the baby. Everything has been purchased and put in the nursery room, but sitting in boxes for the boys to assemble.
The news of me having a girl has spread throughout the family and we've gotten many congratulations notes and cards.
Cal has been the most excited out of everyone. It's honestly really cute and sweet.
"Baby?" Speak of the devil,
"In our room." I shouted back,
I heard his footsteps head towards the door and watched him walk through the door.
He set down his school bag and started loosening his tie to change.
He slipped into the bathroom and soon came out, hair dripping and clad in his fresh nightclothes.
"How are my girls?" He asked, getting under the covers.
"We're good." I smiled.
He wrapped his arms around me, resting his hands on my bump.
"Hey princess," he said talking to my stomach. "Did you cause your mummy discomfort today?" He asked rhetorically.
"No she was actually very good today." I answered.
He kissed my cheek, "that's good."
"I'm just waiting for her to grow and push against my bladder." I sighed.
"It would be worth it." He said reassuringly, rubbing my small bump.
We sat in silence for a few minutes until he broke it,
"You know I love you, right?" He asked.
"Of course," I said looking up into his stormy eyes.
"And you know how much I love our daughter, right?" He asked, his eyes showing worry.
"Of course," I said, sitting up, making him sit up too. I grabbed his hand and intertwined our fingers, "where is this coming from?"
"I just feel like I'm not doing enough, that I don't see you enough, that I'm not here enough, that I haven't done enough. You have to be pregnant and carry the baby, and worry about what you eat or how you feel. I don't have to go through any of that. You have to, and I don't feel like I'm compensating enough, when I'm the one that got you pregnant." He said slowly.
"You are here enough," I said right away. "You're here maybe too much, I don't care if your gone for a long time Cal, your still young, and you should enjoy your life. You're here for every appointment, here every night, there every breakfast. I chose to put my life on hold for this baby, but I don't regret it. And the fact that you owned up to this and are working double time to take over the company is enough for me. That fact that you're willing to do all this, for me, for her, it's enough. I didn't expect you to be by my side every waking second. I want you to take your time, enjoy this. Because when the baby is here, it won't be the same." I kissed his forehead.
He shoved his face in the crook of my neck and kissed the spot there.
"I love you," he said softly. "I love you so much." He repeated.
"I love you too Cal." I said pushing his hair from his forehead.
"And so does this little girl."
"I love you both." He mumbled. "My girls" he said, wrapping his arms around my waist.
Snores soon reverberated around the room, his breathing became steady.
"Well, little girl, that's your daddy for you." I chuckle softly before finding myself drifting off to sleep.
