A Month Later, Malfoy Manor
Astoria POV
I sat in the library of the manor reading a book to pass the time. Draco had to go to work early, but I think he volunteered for the shift because he needed a distraction. Aquila's... condition, really frightened him. Harry says they have a lead but that there's potentially dozens more. It's progressing slowly. I have been going to the healers for potions regularly and routine exams once a month. They said my condition is increasing, that the potions are doing well. But it's still not over. They said it was possible that I go dependent on them. As long as I still get to stay with my family, I don't really care. We didn't have a ball all winter because it was too dangerous. Harry had gotten a note, threatening his family as well as Ron and Blaise. Theo got the message carved into the door of his house, so they moved into the penthouse, they own, in a busier part of London. We hadn't gotten anything yet until now.
They are working constantly, looking through recorded prophecies, past events, profiles, etc, etc.
I heard the front door open and close, signaling my husband has arrived home.
I marked my page and headed downstairs. I saw him shrug his coat off before taking off his work robe. I glided over to him and snuck up on him from behind. I jumped on his back, catching him off guard for a second before he held onto my legs as my arms wrapped around his shoulders.
"How was your day?" I asked, kissing his cheek.
He chuckled, "A lot better now."
I laughed and unwrapped my legs from around his waist. He turned around and took my waist pulling in for a kiss and hug.
"You haven't greeted me like that in a long time." He smiled.
I laughed again, "spur of the moment." I shrugged.
He chuckled and kissed my head. "How was your day?"
I shrugged, "Same old, same old."
He nodded and took my hand leading me into the dining room where Mippy was finishing setting the table.
"Thank you Mippy." I smiled.
"No problem Mrs." she squeaked back.
She ran into the other room while Draco pulled out a chair for me.
We fell into conversation and then Draco said the unexpected.
"So I got a visit from your healer today."
I stopped my fork mid air, "and?"
"She gave me some news." He paused, "You are completely and utterly healed."
I gasped, "what?"
"You're completely fine Tori, the potions didn't prolong the disease, it healed it."
I gaped, "you're not joking right, because I swear to Merlin, Draco Malfoy I will hex to next century and back-"
"I'm not joking, love. You can ask yourself."
"You're not?"
He shook his head, grinning.
I lit up, "I'm fine!"
He chuckled and stood up pulling me out of my seat to twirl me around. He held me close.
"And thank Merlin for it."
I pecked his lips, "does this mean I can go back to baking and cleaning?"
He seethed playfully, "I don't know about that. Maybe your skills aren't up to where they were. I'm gonna need some of your pastry to test that out."
I giggled, "ok then, pastry it is." I kissed his cheek.
He pulled me in for a hug. "I'm so happy Astoria."
"I am too."
