Chapter 38: Huh?

Where we left off...

James POV

Once Cal said those words everyone stopped. 

She's waking up?

Is he playing us?

No this is too serious for him.

But it's Cal.

So it's possible.

Pomfrey gasped, then started muttering different spells.  Soon enough her eyes fluttered open followed by a wince.  We instantly lowered the light in the room.  She sat up slightly with the help of Orion and Scorpius.

"How do you feel?" Pomfrey asked her softly,

"Fine, a little light headed, but why am I here and why are you all acting like this?" 

Linus went to get her a glass of water.  Helping her take small sips.  I stood there frozen.  I didn't know what to do.  

Lily tugged my hand, breaking me from my daze. 

She made a grabby motion, silently asking to be picked up so she can see better.  I picked her up and rested her on my hip, I saw Teddy do the same with Louis, Luke had Hugo on his shoulders, and Gabe with Lana.  Everyone gathered around to look at her.  She still looked a little pale and a bit skinnier than healthy.

"Do you remember what happened, birdie?" Cal asked.

She shook her head. "What happened?" She asked still sipping the water Linus brought her.

"There was a dementor attack, specifically seeking out you, we believe.  James helped with the dementor but it was too late.  You were in a coma for about 5 months, we didn't know if or when you'd wake up." He said holding her hand.

"What day is it?"

"A day before the last day of school" Orion said.  Her eyes widened, "I missed almost half of the school year?!" She said with a somewhat hoarse voice.  

"Yeah,  but you're so smart so I doubt they were teaching anything worth your while." 

"Can I make up the work?"  That's the Aquila I know.

 "McGonagall collected all of your work and said that if you wanted to do it over the summer and hand it in, then that's okay." Scorp added.  She's going to do that in one day, I know it.

She nodded, "What's happened while I was asleep?"

We looked at each other before Teddy spoke, "There was a prophecy that sort of matched up with a reason behind the attack.  A joining of an heir and traitor.  To bring... him- back.  That's all we have.  Right now it's just taking precautions as necessary."

She nodded then looked at Victoire's stomach, "and I'm guessing there's going to be and addition to the family?"

Vic smiled, "I found out I was pregnant a few months ago, I'm due in September.  It's twins, Remus and Tresor.  And... I will be a Lupin in December." She said holding up her hand. 

"Really?" She asked excitedly,

Vic nodded.  

"That's amazing."

We laughed.

Vic beamed.  And Teddy wrapped his arm around her from behind, resting his hands on her stomach.

I feel so happy for them.  

I want that in the future.  I want that with Aquila.

Pomfrey came back with a small tray of food for her to eat.  She slowly ate until there wasn't anything left.  

She kept looking around the room, almost searching for something.  

"Everything alright?" I spoke for the first time, 

She shook her head, "Yeah just thinking." 

I nodded.  "Anything important?" By now everyone did their own things.  And we were just talking by ourselves.

She tilted her head.  "No. Not really.  Just trying to plan out the best way to catch up with everything."

I nodded, "I missed you so much, babygirl.  I was so scared." I whispered.

"I'm sorry James." She said in a small voice.  

I looked at her confused, "there's nothing to be sorry for.  It's not your fault."

She nodded, but I could tell she didn't believe herself.
