Chapter 52: A Winter's Ball

Two weeks before Holiday Break, December.... Ravenclaw common room.

Aquila POV

I sat in one of the big velvet chairs near the window, finishing off a potions essay.  Today at dinner there was the announcement of a Winter Ball next week.  Two days before leaving. I had sent a letter to Mum once I got back to the common room.  As did Molly and Alice.  James also sought me out right away and asked me.  

I laughed at the pleading look on his face.  Like I would just come out and say 'no'

I got a letter from Vic asking to be a bride's maid the other day.  I was so excited.  She's getting married in three weeks-ish.  From the pictures I've been sent, it looks to be planned thoroughly but magnificently.  She told us that we'd (Dom, Aunt Fleur, Mum, Clair, Rosie, Roxy, and I) would be going dress shopping with her the day after we arrive.  She's even bringing Tresor with us so she could get a dress for her.  Apparently the boys are also getting their tux's the same day too and Teddy, I'm assuming, is taking Remus with him.  I heard James got a groomsman spot.  Which he is really appreciative of.  He cried for a solid hour about it.  My shoulder was cold from the soaked fabric.  Cal and Freddy privately celebrated by setting off fireworks.  Then when they got caught they responded with 'no reason'

I smiled to myself thinking about a possible wedding between me and James.  How he'd look standing at the altar waiting for me.  I'd be in all white, carrying a bouquet of white lilies.  My father reluctantly giving me away.  Us vowing our love for each other. 

I sighed.  You know that dreamy sigh you hear every Disney Princess give at one point or another.  

I packed my stuff into my school bag and stared out the window I watched the snow fall down lightly to the ground below.  I saw a few birds flying through the night, the moon reflecting off the wings.  The moon illuminated the forest and lake.  

I stood up and grabbed my bag, making my way up to my dorm.  I quietly slipped into the dorm, quickly showered and brushed my teeth.  Finished my skin care, hair, and changed to pajamas before getting into bed and diving into sleep. 

A few days later... Potions Room

Freddy POV

I sat in my seat, waiting for potions to start.  Della sat sideways on my lap as we talked to James and Gabe.

Professor Slughorn walked in and the class settled down.  Della slipped off and into a seat next to me.

"Okay class, today we will talk about the potion Amortentia.  Does anyone know anything about it already?"

A few raised their hands. 

"Mr. Pucey?" 

"Amortentia emits an essence that attracts someone with particular scents pertaining to that person.  However it is misleading.  It does not create real love, more of an infatuation that can be mistaken as love." 

How did he know so many of those fancy words?

"Very good Mr. Pucey, five points to Slytherin." 

"As he said.  The smell that Amortentia gives off is different for every person.  And it is tru that it does not create love but infatuation.  And don't be playing around with it.  It can be extremely dangerous." He gave us this 'don't even think about it' look.  "Now, I'm going to pass around a vile of this and I want you to record what you smell." He poured two viles and passed it to two people in the front. 

After a few minutes someone passed it to me.  I smelled the vile.  

Something floral, chrysanthemum maybe? Like Della's perfume.
