"You wouldn't like that. Even if I show you my face, what are you going to do about it? Are you going to run to your soulmate, crying to his shoulder? Or are you going to stay quiet until you figure this out?" mocked the stranger. "I do not have a soulmate," I gritted through my teeth. "Oh, you certainly have," the stranger laughed as I saw a bit of his face. "If I have a soulmate then who is he?" I asked. "Are you really that blind? Anyway, I've got to go. See you soon." "Wait, wait," I screamed. "Hey, hey. Alice, you're okay! You're okay," said Amy. "I-I-I-." "Shhh. It's okay," said Amy. After a few minutes there was banging on the door. "Alice open up. I heard you screaming. I said OPEN Up," shouted Brian as Amy open the door. Brian came rushing in. "Hey, hey. Look at me. Are you okay?!" asked Brian. "He said that I would destroy us all," I sobbed. "Who said?" he asked. "One of the Lights," I said as I cried.
"Shhh. It's okay. I'm here," said Brian as I buried my head in his chest. "I want to go back to normal, where everything was just peaceful." "Darling, you were never normal. Since the day you were born." "Come on! Go change. We have training to do," said Brian as he helped me out of bed. "I am going to be here waiting," reassured Brian. I took out the first thing I saw in the wardrobe. It was a white shirt and pink leggings. I went to the bathroom and took the quickest possible shower, changed my clothes and went back to my room. "I'm done," I whispered. I still couldn't get that guy's words out of my head. Soulmate? Destroy the world? Lights? I felt a tear fall on my cheek but then I felt a warm hand wiping the tear. "It's okay. I'm here," said Brian. I have never seen Brian that gentle. "Let's make a deal. While we are training, you can tell me parts and pieces of your dream. Deal?" asked Brian.
I was hesitant at first. I don't want to remember that horrible dream but then again, I need someone to tell the dream to. And definitely not Amy, so I accepted his deal. While we were going to the playfield, the scene kept repeating and repeating in my mind but I need to put an end to this. When we entered the playfield, it again fell silent, but I'm too much stressed to feel embarrassed or unsettled with this silent. "Where's Jade?" I asked. Only now I noticed that Jade wasn't here. "She's on a mission right now." I shrugged and went on to make my sword. "Not today. Today, we're going to fight without weapons," said Brian. "So you mean with our hands?" I asked. "Something like that yeah," said Brian. "Before we start, let me just, ah. Here we go," said Brian. He somehow made a dome that I also somehow knew it was soundproof.
"Why did you that?" I asked. "Do you want the whole Lightstringers community to hear about your dream?" asked Brian. "No?" I whispered. "Then this is good. Either way, I was going to do the dome because I didn't want anyone to watch us fight." "You want to start?" asked Brian. "No. you go first," I say. "As you wish but don't say I didn't warn you," said Brian as he swung his fist at me. I dodged it easily but I hit him in the stomach. He looked taken back for a little then continues on with his punches. While we continue on with this, I start to tell him about the dream. Everything I saw, from the room until the stranger's fingers. Although, I could've sworn that I saw him clench his teeth when I told him about the stranger touching my shoulder, but I guess it was just my imagination.
"He told you he was a Lights?" asked Brian as he threw another punch which I again dodge easily. "Yeah," I answered as I punched him in the jaw. Blood dripped from his open lip. "I'm so sorry. I didn't know I'd do that," I apologized and Brian laughed. "It's okay, but never ever let your guard down. Got it," said Brian as he landed a punch on my back. "Uffff, Ok." "That's strange. Lights never come to one's dream. Like never. Maybe you're someone important to them," said Brian as he punched my stomach this time I didn't have time to move or dodge the punch. I stumbled back then stood up again. We completed our conversation until an envelope made out of light was in front of Brian. He opened the letter and read it, all his blood drained from his face.
"Brian, what does the letter say?" I asked. "I am sorry Alice. I am so sorry," cried Brian. "What are you sorry about?" I asked as I took the letter from him. The smile on my face was replaced with a frown. I didn't know who addressed this letter but what made me frown was that I found my father's name in it. I started to read the letter and wished I never did. It looked something like that,
"Dear Mr. Evans,
Good morning Mr. Evans. I am sorry for you to hear this news, but it has to be said. Alan Roberts is dead sir. I am the pixie that's looking after Mr. Roberts. His case was getting worse. Sir we tried as much as possible to help him heal but it's not helping. He was having difficulty with breathing and his blood pressure was always high. I am sorry sir but we can't help this mortal. Can you please come by the compound so we know what to do with his body? Again I am sorry.
Sincerely, Linda."
I forgot about my father. I was caught up with the training and this world that I totally forgot about him. How could I? For god's sake, he's the one that raised me. Brian tried to hug me but I just shattered. "Don't, please don't come near me. Please," I cried. I took down the dome and rushed to the compound. I didn't know where the compound was but I kept running. I took a few turns here and there until I found myself in front of Amy.
"Amy! Where's the medical compound?" I asked. "Why are you crying?" asked Amy. "Answer the question Amy!" I stated, venom lingering in my voice. She squeaked and said, "Keep walking then take the second left and you'll find it." Without thinking twice I ran to the compound. It looked the same as the park. I barged in and started to scan the hall that I stood in. Pixies were flying everywhere. A lot of lightstringers were injured, they were sitting waiting for their wounds to be tended. A pixie came to me and asked, "Ma'am, what brings you to the medical compound?" "I need to see Alan Roberts." "I am sorry but only Mr. Evans can see Mr. Roberts." "I am his daughter for the love of god." The pixie looked shocked but then shown to my father's room. I enter to be hit by the cold air. I looked at my motionless father. He looked pale and had chapped blue lips.
I sat beside him and said, "Hey dad?"I held his cold hands and placed them on my cheeks. "I heard you were givingthe pixies a hard time. You can stop pretending now," I said as I felt tearsstinging my eyes. "Please be alive. I don't want to lose you. I already lostmum, I can't lose you too. Please, I'm begging you," I said as I sobbed in hischest. "Do you remember the time that you promised that you'll always be therefor me? You said you'd never leave me. You broke your promise, right now you'releaving me to be with mum. Why didn't you take me with you? I don't haveanything left in this world. Please just take me with you," I said in betweenmy sobs. "Dad. Talk to me, tell me that you're not leaving me. Please," Icried.
