The next morning, they decided to do some training with Aang before taking off. Athlea meditated with him in the morning, letting his mind and body relax while talking him through the basics a bit. Then Zuko did his part of the training; actual bending moves. They were onto more moderate moves since Athlea had already begun his training.
Athlea was seated beside Toph and Sokka as they watched. "I could never. I'd probably just annoy Zuko," Sokka admitted as they watched.
"You would," Katara agreed. She was walking up the shore half-asleep; she had trained with Dai the second half of the night after a short nap. She grabbed something to eat and went to her tent.
"Don't you already do that? On a daily basis?" Toph asked and shook her head.
"Nooo... No I don't..." Sokka said, looking away and clearing his throat, his attention on Athlea. "So... Athlea, are we going to see you in action too?" he asked, a grin on his face. "We didn't really manage to see you fight back there in the Fire Nation. It'll be interesting."
Dai came running slowly along the edge of the island. She collapsed in the sand next to Sokka. "Yeah, Athlea," she chimed in, breathing heavy.
Athlea blinked, looking at him and then back at Zuko and Aang. "Who knows," she said calmly with a shrug.
Zuko glanced over at Dai. "Where were you?" He dodged a fireball.
"Running, idiot." Dai gestured to herself.
"Right, but where?"
"Around the island."
Zuko stopped. "Why?"
Katara yelled from her tent. "Because she's insane." Athlea smiled softly.
Sokka was still on the former subject. "I think Athlea firebending would be hot."
Athlea looked at him awkwardly in silence. Zuko glared over at Sokka. "Anyone want toasted Sokka for dinner?"
Toph sighed. "You're disgusting," she said simply.
"Oh come on... The only person we've seen fire bend as a woman is Zuko's sister, and she's crazy! We've got an entire master here and we haven't seen her fight," Sokka said in his defense.
"And who can I go up against? There's no enemies for you to see me in action, and therefore... no reason to fight," Athlea said calmly, watching Zuko.
Zuko laughed. "Don't let Dai hear you talk about fighting. She's pretty... spicy." A fireball nicked his ankle and he swore. "That's enough for today, Aang."
"I think you'd look hot after I beat the piss out of you for being a misogynistic prick," Dai said sweetly. She tapped Sokka on the nose, jumping up and messing with her hair. "I'm gonna go rinse off. If I catch Sokka peeping, Team Avatar will be minus one." She picked her pace up into a run along the shore until she was out of view.
Sokka watched her walk away, eyes wide as he stared into the distance at nothing.
Athlea blinked a few times and tilted her head to the side with a smile. "An interesting answer." she said.
Zuko shrugged his shoulders. "She's got a point."
Sokka looked at Zuko. "Hey! Can someone be on my side?!" he asked, annoyed.
"No," Toph responded with a giggle.
Zuko walked over through the sand and sat by Athlea. "Your side is wrong."
"Sorry Sokka," Aang said with a chuckle.
Aang finally sat down, panting. "And here I thought Athlea was hard in training. But apparently Zuko is too." He then laid down on his back, arms spread out.
