Katara cleared her throat, pulling her arms back. She opened her eyes, instantly alert. Glancing down at her stomach, she realized her water was gone. "Toph," she called to the girl across from her.
"Where even are we? What happened?" Toph asked. "We were just walking in the forest and then... boom, we are here now," she said.
A single torch in the back lit the cave. Katara's eyes brightened. "I have an idea. We're in a cave. And caves are always damp." She twisted her hands as much as she could and a few drops of water clinging to the ceiling swept onto the floor. "That's it," she muttered through gritted teeth. She managed to pull the water into the air and freeze it, then used the ice to cut the ropes off of her. She let out a noise of pain; the ice was sharp and the rubbing against her wrists had given her an icy burn. Katara dropped to the floor and jumped to her feet. She ran to Toph and untied her, then turned around, gathering a good amount of water from the cave surface.
Toph grinned. "We need to find the others and get out of here." She swung her head around, walking toward the metal door. "Heh... this will be fun." She put her hands on the door and made a grasping motion, creasing the door like a ball of paper. She pushed it forward, letting light enter the cave.
"Can you tell if anybody is nearby?" Katara asked as they walked out of the room. Few torches on the cave walls lit the way.
"A few guards on the right and left," Toph spoke, blinking. She faced up, then down, eyebrows furrowed. "There are guards everywhere, and the Team is divided, I think. We need to move quickly, get rid of the guards on this level, and get back to the others."
Katara cursed under her breath. "Okay. We can trick them into coming back, and you can use the cave floor to trap them in our room." Katara sent a spray of water in either direction.
Sure enough, guards came running from either direction. Katara bent her knees, hands ready at her sides as she grabbed any drop of water she could sense. "Ready?" she asked Toph.
Toph grinned. "Sounds like a plan!" she called confidently. "Bring it!"
Katara grinned, spinning so her back was against the wall as the guards closed in from either side. The water she had was just enough to blast them into the very cave Toph and herself had just escaped from. "Now!" She glanced at Toph, eyes gleaming.
"Bye bye!" Toph said, one of her hands raising, causing the earth to move up as well. Her hand stopped in front of her face, sealing the prison shut.
"Great!" Katara smiled.
Toph smirked. "Done. Let's go!" The two started running down the hall.
"Any updates?" Katara asked Toph. "Are the others moving? What about the guards? And which way do we go?"
"Everyone's heading the same way we are. We are on the right track!" The two stopped at the stairwell. Toph looked up and then down. "We are going upstairs." Toph said, taking the right stairwell, while the left led downward.
