The next few days were spent on bridesmaid dresses, the ring, color schemes, decoration, music, and everything else needed for the wedding. There was a small party in which Sokka picked his Helpers, his short training considered technically completed--not that he followed any rules.
The day of the wedding arrived soon enough. The color scheme was, of course, white and blue, with purple accents.
Athlea had chosen a red skirt with a golden waistband that was tied around, two ends hanging nearly to her knees. Her top was a bikini style, twisted in the center and wrapped over just her chest. It came to a close in the back, connecting to the skirt, leaving her pregnant stomach revealed. She also wore a necklace that Zuko had gotten her when they went to get Dai's ring. It had a diamond chain with a larger drop-shaped diamond pendant, with matching earrings. Irene wore a dress of matching color, with thick sleeves that wrapped over her shoulders, adorned by a deep V-neck and a crossed gold waistband. It tied around her neck, leaving her back revealed down to just above her hips with a low swoop of cloth. Toph wore a pale green dress with a thick gold waistband, the top wrapping under her left arm and over her right shoulder, a loose, short sleeve on just her right arm. Ah Cy and Katara both wore light blue dresses with gold waistbands. Katara's had a waistband slightly thinner than Toph's, crossed just slightly enough to leave a thin gap on her right hip that showed the blue cloth underneath. The top went up to her collarbones, then the cloth was twisted. It untwisted so that larger pieces wrapped over her shoulders and down her back. Ah Cy had a thick wrapped waistband with a second thinner band over the bottom, a heart-shaped collar and no straps. Each dress dragged just slightly on the floor, only a couple of inches.
On days where there weren't special events, Irene had started dressing more like herself and less like Ayiana. She'd started wearing thigh-high black boots with heels, dark blue sleeves with silver trim up to the tops of her biceps, a dark blue collar piece that spread across her shoulders, protectively jutting out from her shoulders in two layers. A black cord wrapped around the base of her neck on the collar piece, a thin white piece of cloth underneath the collar above it. From the cord hung a blue diamond pendant. Two long blue strips of cloth connected the collar piece to her body piece to mid-calf. The blue body piece was strapless with a heart neckline as well, coming to wrap around her bottom half like the lower half of a bikini. A long piece, a scapular, hung from the front of the body piece to her ankles. Two silver stripes adorned the bottom of the scapular, while three silver Vs pointed downward at her hips. A line went up from the Vs to below her breasts, making a horizontal diamond shape. However, today, like everyone else, she was dressed up.
Dai herself wore a white dress with a silver lace covering, adorned with pale blue snowflakes. The snowflakes spread over her shoulders instead of straps. A long veil hung from her waist and dragged far behind her. The skirt just barely brushed the floor.
The men all wore white shirts. Zuko and Avitus had red jackets, Laetious blue, Aang orange. All of their ties were blue.
Finally, the ceremony was done. Dai walked slowly through the ballroom, her veil since removed, gazing around with a soft smile on her face, her hand in Sokka's. She glanced at him, then frowned. He wasn't looking very happy.
Katara caught it, too. "Come on, guys. Let's go see what food they have!" She pulled the others away.
Dai grabbed Sokka's other hand, pulling him closer. "Hey, what's wrong?" she asked, tilting her head.
Sokka glanced at Dai, smiling. "Nothing is wrong." He shook his head. "I'm just thinking. Everything is okay." He leaned down and kissed her cheek.
Dai frowned, leaning onto her toes and hugging his neck. "No worrying allowed today," she said, kissing his cheek softly. "Not allowed," she said again. "Come on. Let's go check on the food with them." A bit of excitement entered her voice as she grabbed his wrist, eyes gleaming, and pulled him toward the dining room.
"This reminds me of our wedding," Zuko was saying to Athlea, smiling.
Athlea linked her arm with Zuko's, a smile on her face as well. "Ours was perhaps more traditional." She looked forward, continuing to speak in a lower voice, then giggled.
Zuko smirked, leaning down toward Athlea and whispering. He straightened as Irene approached. "I believe we do," he agreed, straightening his tux proudly.
The room was bustling with people. Irene was standing there with her husband and brother, but turned to greet the younger men and women. "Look at you all," she said, smiling. "Lovely-looking!"
Avitus nodded while Laetius sipped his tea. "I think today is a nice day indeed," Avitus agreed.
