Things were pretty somber around the Lighthouse following the news of Coulson's ultimate death. They knew it was coming. They all did. However, it didn't change the fact that it hurt like hell when he was actually gone.

May returned to base on a quinjet. Other agents had come to pick her up and to help with Phil's body. May gave the others a basic rundown of their time in Tahiti before retreating to her quarters. All of them, especially Daisy, had wanted to follow and comfort her, but they knew the best thing for May, at the current moment, was space.

Everyone else that was part of the close-knit team seemed to be a little closed off too. Jemma worked even harder on getting the Zephyr retrofitted for space travel. Keeping her mind on Fitz for the time being helped her forget about the death of a man who inspired her endlessly. Elena wasn't seen around the base as often. She volunteered to go on more field assignments. She just couldn't be in the base at the moment. Sure, she was one of the people who hadn't wanted to use any of the serums on Coulson and let him die, but that didn't mean she wanted him to die in the first place. Mack threw himself into his director duties. Even if the two had their differences and disagreements, Mack had a lot of respect for Coulson. He would be lying if he said taking up the mantel of director didn't freak him out. Would he ever be as good as a director as Coulson?

Of course, May shut herself away. That was to be expected. She would sometimes go down to the gym and punch one of the punching bags until her knuckles were bleeding, but there was usually someone there to help reel her in. If this had been her five years ago, she would have been annoyed by this, but now, she was actually thankful. As time went on, she did start to open up a little, which relieved the team, knowing that she wasn't going to fall too deep.

Daisy was another who basically isolated herself. No one could blame her. Coulson was the reason she was in SHIELD in the first place. If he hadn't pulled her out of her van all those years ago, she didn't know where she'd be. If she had to guess, probably jail for cybercrimes.

There was also no doubt in anyone's mind that Phil was a father to Daisy in every and any way that mattered.

His funeral and burial were the last times anyone had really seen Daisy outside of her room and saying she was a mess that day would be an understatement. Unfortunately, no one outside of the OG team knew why Daisy was so much more of a mess these days. Sure, she came out to eat once in a while, but that was probably it. Sometimes, someone - usually Jemma, Mack, or Yoyo, would bring food to Daisy because somedays, she couldn't even make it out of bed.

The new stress in her life only added to her pregnancy symptoms. She was sick more often than just in the morning, and her emotions were all over the place. Additionally, the vibrational activity picked up. She wasn't quite sure what that was just yet, but it was throwing her off as well.

A week after Coulson's funeral, Daisy lied in her bed, dried tears staining her cheeks. Her head was pounding from the previous hours, even days, of crying in her room. It definitely did not help that she had just reached her eighth week of pregnancy. She a trashcan set right next to her bed given that she was even struggling to make it to the bathroom whenever she got sick these days.

She wished she could just run away from it all. For a moment, she thought she had made her decision. Everywhere she looked around the base, she only thought of Coulson. She was at an extreme low when she thought she made the decision on getting an abortion. She would terminate the pregnancy, hop on the Zephyr, and go to space with Jemma to find Fitz. The mission was expected to take months, maybe even a year or so, so that's a lot of time to not be here. However, as she started to feel a little better, she knew that was just her current emotions talking, and her rationale had been thrown out the window during those thoughts. Would she even be able to face Fitz again after what he did to her? Sure, it technically wasn't him. Well, it was him, but just the past him. All this time travel stuff was giving her a headache, and she just wanted it to stop. She wanted to make a decision on the pregnancy.
