Chapter 19

We interrupt your regularly scheduled program to give you "What the Heck Were Fitz and Simmons Doing This Whole Time?".

It had been a whirlwind for both Fitz and Simmons.

Between the virtual mind prison to being stranded at the casino on Kitson, both could easily say that all they wanted to do was to be back home on Earth with their friends. With their family. Thankfully, they ran into Izel. Though they didn't know who exactly she was, she was headed to Earth, and she seemed to be their best bet to get back home. Through all the craziness, they did have to say goodbye to Enoch, who seemed to be deemed Fitz's best friend. Fortunately, Enoch had left a communication device with Fitz to call him, so they figured it wasn't a permanent goodbye.

Izel left the two scientists alone to work on the jump drive. The faster they fixed the jump drive, the faster they could get back to Earth. 

This whole situation seemed so surreal and weird to Jemma. This was Fitz. Her Fitz. However, he seemed so different from the Fitz that had passed away a little over a year ago. This Fitz didn't have so much of the same intensity as the one before. Though, Jemma could see that he was very much capable of getting to the mental state that he was in last year. The mind prison proved that to her. He was still very much prominent in his mind. 

Because the last time this Fitz and she were together was right after they were released from the Framework, there were quite a few things that Jemma had to fill him in on. He did learn about some of it during the mind prison, like his break with The Doctor and Coulson's death, but that was just barely scratching the surface of what had happened last year. 

"So you sliced his neck?" Fitz asked, shocked that his girlfriend-wife... fiance had done such a thing. Sure she had shot AIDA relentlessly, but he didn't think she had the guts to pull something off like that. Then again, she did spend a whole year in space. She didn't seem as fragile as she seemed to him before. 

"Well," Jemma began. "It was actually the cheek and it was done with a butter knife, so it only left a scar at most."

"Still. That's pretty impressive."

"Yeah, Daisy was about to quake the ass of his brother, but he turned her inhibitor off causing her to fall like a whole story down."

"Inhibitor?"

A shudder ran down Jemma's spine. The memory of everything that had happened in terms of Daisy's inhibitor filled her mind. She was just looking for the right timing to bring it up to Fitz. She had to let him know what he had done to her. She promised Daisy she would. Jemma knew Daisy wouldn't be able to look at Fitz the same way again, so she had to break it to him to prepare him for the relationship that he and Daisy may now have. 

Jemma just continued the story from where they left off. She told him about Flint and older Robin. She definitely had to explain the whole Deke situation considering she just decided to bring up the fact that they had a grandson in the future that somehow made his way back to 2018 with them. She told him about what happened after they returned. She mentioned Ruby and Yoyo's arms. This all led them to the monoliths. 

"And you said there were three?" Fitz asked.

Jemma nodded. "Yep. You know about the plain gray one, which represents space. The one we dealt with was the white and red one you saw in the mind prison. The third was gray with these blueish-gray circles on it. I don't think we ever figured out what that one was, but when the three of them exploded together, they created a rift to, I wanna say, was a fear dimension."

"Fear dimension?" 

"Yeah, there were manifestations of everyone's fears popping up everywhere. There was Lash, which I can only assume was May's fear. There was also this creepy nun that we figured out later was one of Daisy's fears from the orphanage. Yoyo saw an LMD version of me trying to kill her. One of mine was an astronaut from Maveth, and Deke saw his mother being murdered by a Kree."
