Trigger Warning: This chapter discusses miscarriage, so if that is something that affects you, I would recommend not reading that last bit of this chapter

Thirty-two weeks into the pregnancy, things began to get a little harder for Daisy, which she expected once she entered her third trimester. The baby was kicking a lot harder and stretching Daisy's abdomen to a point she didn't even think was possible. This was rather uncomfortable for her, she wasn't going to lie. However, she managed to push through. It also didn't help that her daughter's sleep schedule didn't seem to line up with Daisy's. When Daisy was ready to turn in for the night, the baby would start kicking and moving around. She guessed this was the baby's way of preparing her for when she was here and not sleeping through the night.

May and Yoyo would also joke around, saying that Daisy's nesting instincts had kicked in. Daisy would often argue that wasn't true. However, she herself did start to notice that she would find herself cleaning randomly. It started in her room, then moved to bringing up supplies from the storage room, and made its way to random parts of the Lighthouse being spotless. Daisy made a mental note to herself that when she does go into labor, to tell someone immediately and not start cleaning something like Jiaying had done with her. However, pretty much everyone on base assumed that Daisy would definitely be doing something when she goes into labor.

But there was definitely something that everyone could tell was going on at the moment: Daisy was overworking herself.

Usually, by now, the typical pregnant woman would be on maternity leave, but every day it seemed like Daisy had lists upon lists of things she insisted she needed to get done. There was a handful of agents that were more than happy to take on some of her responsibilities, but many of them knew the stubbornness of the inhuman. When she was set on something, there was no getting past her.

One particular day, Daisy was carrying a rather big box of supplies that she was asked to bring to the hangar as repairs were being made to a couple of the quinjets. Given that they didn't have the Zephyr at the moment, they needed to make a couple of small upgrades to the planes.

Agent Keller noticed that Daisy was struggling with the big box. She looked exhausted. He rushed to her quickly, ready to take the box of supplies off her hands.

"No, no, I got it," Daisy insisted.

"Are you sure?" Keller questioned. "Cause that seems pretty heavy, and I may not know too much about pregnancy, but I do know that you shouldn't be overexerting yourself and carrying really heavy things like this. I could take this off your hands-"

"I said it's fine," Daisy retorted. "I've got it." Daisy adjusted the box in her hands before making her way to the hangar.

She was practically out of breath when she arrived at one of the quinjets. Diaz was the first one to notice her. "Here, let me get that for you." Once the box was in her arms, Diaz noticed just how out of breath Daisy was. Her hands were gripping the sides of her hips, just under her swollen stomach. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah," Daisy replied. "I'll be fine."

"You sure? Shouldn't you be resting?"

Once Daisy got her bearings back, she stood up. "I wish I could, but there's too much that I need to get done."

"I'm sure if you asked Director Mackenzie, he would let you take a break. Might even finally let you go on maternity leave. You two are pretty much family, so I don't think he'd not let you-"

"No, it's fine," Daisy replied. "I've got to get going. There's still a lot of stuff to get done before the end of the day."

Diaz was about to say something, but she knew she would probably get nowhere. "All right. Just... be careful, okay?"
