AN: Sorry for the wait😅 This week has been pretty hectic with moving back to college and in-person classes starting up again. Also, ever since I moved back on campus, my google docs have been crashing and reloading, so it's been a very trying time writing this chapter, but I got it done!
Hydra? Why is it always frickin' Hydra?
In order to save SHIELD from a doomed future, they had to save Hydra, who has been their worst, ever so persistent, and the most annoying enemy they have faced within the last six or so years.
And Malick? Of all the people who were affiliated with Hydra, it just had to be Malick, didn't it? Of course, this was Wilfred Malick, not Gideon Malick, who probably wouldn't be born for another twenty years or so. But still. Gideon still lived within Daisy's mind, and the fact that they had been face to face with his father was sending all kinds of worries and shivers down her body.
Daisy looked through the little pocketbook that belonged to the lady that had been talking to Freddy and got shot by the chronicoms, trying to look for any clue as to who she was and what it was that made Freddy connected to Hydra to the point where he and his family were at the top.
Coulson stood next to the lady, holding some cloth against her stomach to stomp the bleeding from the bullet.
Ernest looked between the two. "You two aren't in the import-export business, are you?" That's what Coulson had originally told him when he and Mack first met him, but it was clear that this Koenig was picking up on some things.
"All you need to know right now is that we're here to help," Coulson told him.
"Oh, help my ass," Koenig retorted. "It's been nothing but trouble ever since you two showed up. If anything happens to Freddy-"
"We would be so lucky," Daisy mumbled under her breath but still loud enough for him to hear. After everything that has happened, after everything she's been through, maybe it would be good if Hydra never rose up.
"What he'd ever do to you?" Koenig asked. A whole lot was all Daisy was able to think. Right then and there, there was a knock on the door; that just had to be Simmons and Yoyo. Koenig opened the sliding peephole. "Buzz off! We're closed!"
"Swordfish" Jemma stated from the other side of the door. "Now, let us in." Koenig allowed Jemma and Elena to enter, who were now sporting their own 1931 looks. "We came as soon as we could. We had to change."
"And ran... in high heels," Elena added, clearly not a fan of the style of the 1930s. "Which isn't easy. I don't know how you people live like this. Seriously." Elena at-least-I-don't-have-to-wear-a-stupid-dress Rodriguez would much rather be in her typical Doc Martens and other boots than comfortable high heels that were only like that for the look and not the comfort.
Jemma approached the bar where Coulson had lied the woman down from the party. "How is she?" she asked as she took off her hat and jacket.
"Not good," Coulson replied. "We need to get her fixed up enough to get her to a hospital."
"Not until we get some answers," Daisy reminded him.
Koenig began freaking out even more as Jemma injected something into the lady's neck. "Woah, woah, woah, you're just gonna operate here?"
Jemma reached for a mask. "We need to remove the bullet."
"Just what I need," Koenig continued. "A dead body in here because some dame-"
"I'm a doctor, not a dame!" Jemma retorted back at him. Daisy had to stop herself from laughing at Jemma's response to him. 1930s sexism still ran deep within this Koenig.
