24 Weeks

Some days were easier, and some days were definitely harder than others. Of course, being the person she was, Daisy never really told people when something was bothering her. However, Mack had been very attentive to what was going on, and he noticed that Daisy was feeling a little stressed.

That is why he sent her to her bunk for the day.

Of course, she argued, telling him that she felt completely fine and that she could very well continue her work. He gave in, letting her take her work to her room. He'd prefer it if she relaxed, but it was common knowledge around the base that Daisy never really knew how to relax and would throw herself into her work and put her entire heart and soul into it.

This week's work consisted of more hacking and more coding. Daisy would say that she was tired of it but honestly, she kind of missed it. After she gained her powers, she was going out in the field more often than staying back and working with computers. The pregnancy gave her the chance to finally get back into it. She was kind of worried that some of her hacking skills may have deteriorated when she wasn't working with computers, but as soon as she started again, it came back like second nature.

She had her laptop on her lap in front of her growing belly. She still wasn't super huge yet, so she still had time before the laptop would have to be placed on top of her belly in order for her to see the screen. Every once in a while, she would rub her hand over her stomach, calming the active child inside.

Ever since she first felt her daughter move, Daisy could feel the baby's movements more and more. Her powers made the movements even more intense than they were. It certainly knocked the air out of her when she first felt her baby shift in her stomach. Luckily, she found a way to control that aspect of her powers, so they weren't as powerful.

Daisy was content as she did her work, hand placed softly on her belly, when she felt something unfamiliar. She looked down at her stomach where she had felt the new feeling. She had gotten used to the feeling of the baby moving, but this was something different.

She continued to rub her hand over her belly, trying to calm the child somehow to see if that was the case, but it only made the sensations happen more. She was a little worried as she wasn't quite sure what was going on, but when she felt a light jab against her hand that came from her stomach, she knew exactly what was happening.

Her daughter was kicking.

It was another one of those moments where she couldn't help but laugh. She continued to move her hand around, feeling for her baby. Her daughter continued to send out jabs that felt nothing more than taps against her hand. "Getting active in there, are you?"

The baby sent out another jab as if to answer her mother. "It's cute now, but I know when you get bigger, your kicks are going to be a little on the painful side. I'm not looking forward to you roundhouse kicking my ribs."

After a couple more minutes, the baby slowed her kicks to a stop, letting Daisy go back to her work. "I can't wait to scare your Uncle Mack. He told me that when his ex was pregnant with Hope, he thought there was an alien in there."

Daisy's body shot up from her sleep. Unlike nightmares, where she woke up in a cold sweat and on the verge of hyperventilating, she woke up feeling a different sensation. She wrapped her arms around her stomach as she took a deep breath.

She was hungry.

Of course, if she wasn't pregnant, she probably wouldn't have woken up at four in the morning for being hungry, but sometimes her daughter wanted certain foods at certain times. Her cravings have definitely been unusual, and at unusual times, but tonight, she had a very specific craving.
