AN: So sorry this is a day late. School was pretty rough last week, and that's just putting it lightly, and I had little time to actually write. Monday and Tuesday were the only days I had to write this chapter. I actually finished this chapter last night and meant to post it earlier this morning, but I woke up late and had to get to classes immediately😅. Classes seem to be lighter this week given that it's Easter week, so hopefully, I can get the next chapter done in a timely manner. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this one!
Another week had passed and things around the Lighthouse have been lightening up. Of course, Coulson's death still affected the team on a regular basis, but it was getting better. Slowly, but definitely getting better.
Daisy's health improved as time went on. She wasn't as sick as she was before, and her energy was slowly coming back as well. She was now nine weeks along, so she was now over halfway through the first trimester, and she had been doing some research within the last week.
For one of the first times since she found out she was pregnant, she woke up and didn't automatically feel like throwing up. That definitely had to be a sign that things were starting to look up for her. She had made her decision, and she was certain of it. She only hoped that things would be turning in her favor.
Daisy got out of bed that morning and started to get dressed. If there was one downside, it was definitely that the jeans that had fit her fine just a couple of days ago no longer fit. After a little bit of struggling to button and zip up her jeans, she threw them off and put on a pair of black leggings. She reached in her dresser and began to put on a loose, gray T-shirt. When her hands reached her stomach, she held the hem of the shirt above her stomach and turned as she examined her body in the mirror. She wasn't exactly showing yet, loose clothing still covered her up pretty well, but she could tell that her abdomen was definitely getting a little rounder than it had been before.
She placed her hand over her stomach and smiled as she felt the quick pulses of the baby's heartbeat. "Hey there, kiddo," she whispered before pulling the hem of the shirt down over her stomach and grabbing her black, leather jacket.
She headed down to the lab where she was getting more medications from Jemma. Jemma got her hooked up to an IV, much to Daisy's dismay of needles.
"You know," Jemma began. "I leave for space in a couple of weeks. You're gonna have to see an actual OBGYN pretty soon..."
"I know, I know," Daisy replied.
"I know it can be difficult to find one who will do your appointments in secret since the world is still not completely over your little 'Quake' stint," Jemma said. "Also to find one who doesn't have any prejudice towards inhumans can be hard." Daisy stayed silent for a little bit. Usually, in the past, that just meant that Daisy kind of just stopped listening. However, Jemma knew Daisy. She knew when something was going on in the inhuman's mind. "What is it."
"I know one," Daisy said.
"Really?" Jemma asked. "I don't think you've ever mentioned them. Were they at Afterlife during your short time there?"
Daisy nodded. "Lincoln introduced me to a lot of other potential inhumans that were there at the time. One of which was an OBGYN named Julia Powers. She actually has worked with inhumans who were expecting before. She and I struck a conversation when I met her. Brought up that one of my friends was a doctor." Jemma smiled softly as she removed the IV from Daisy's arm. "She lives in Philidelphia. I should definitely get in contact with her."
Jemma nodded. "We're currently based in upstate New York, but I'm sure quinjets can get her from Pennsylvania to here in a timely matter when you're further along in the pregnancy. The explanation of how you conceived will definitely be... interesting for her to hear, but I'm sure she'll still know what to do. I'm also positive that she will be happy to hear from you again. It's been a little over three years since the whole Afterlife incident. " Daisy nodded, not saying anything. Like before, Jemma could tell there was something on her mind. "Daisy? What's wrong?"
