A few days have passed since the incident at the jewelry store. To say that things have not been easy since then would be an understatement. Especially for May. This thing with Coulson's face was truly getting under her skin. Daisy would talk to her every so often, but she figured the best thing for May at the moment was giving her space.
The only thing that seemed to truly breakthrough May's tough exterior was Nadia.
Whenever she was free to do so, May would watch over Nadia for a few hours, like she had told Daisy she would be willing to do so whenever Daisy needed a break, and the little baby seemed to coax smiles out of May whenever she was feeling down. May definitely loved her granddaughter and was willing to do anything for her.
When Daisy walked into the common area to see May happily bouncing her daughter on her hip, her heart melted. Daisy didn't think she'd ever see May smile so wide before like the way she did when she was with Nadia.
May noticed Daisy's presence. "Looks like your momma is here to take you away from me," May whispered to the infant.
"Well, it is almost time for a certain baby girl's bedtime," Daisy said. "I would really like it if I could bathe, feed, change, and put her down to sleep on time tonight."
"Damn, party pooper much?"
Daisy laughed. "Well, maybe check back again with me when she's a teenager, and maybe I might let her stay up late with you."
May passed Nadia to Daisy, who held her daughter tightly. Daisy nodded with a smile before heading back to her quarters to get Nadia ready for bed.
Daisy set up the infant bath and placed Nadia in the tiny tub. The first couple of times Daisy had to give Nadia a bath, it was a little difficult and stressful. Nadia seemed to get upset with the change of scenery when it came to it. Now, the little girl was quite comfortable with the warm water her mother poured over her body. Nadia now loved bathtime. Her toothless smile made Daisy smile as well, seeing her daughter take in every part of life.
Once Daisy changed the girl into pajamas, she placed her in the center of the bed so that she was safe from falling off. Daisy cleaned up and put things away. When she walked back into the room, she was speechless at what she saw. She had placed Nadia on her back, but when she returned, Nadia was laying on her stomach. The infant looked up at her mother and smiled.
"Did you roll over all on your own?" Daisy asked, using her baby voice once again. Nadia smiled, a laugh screeching through her mouth. Daisy couldn't help but laugh as well as she picked her up. "I'm so proud of you, baby!"
She held her close to her chest as she sat on the bed, taking in the clean baby scent. During this time of relaxation, Daisy began to feed Nadia, whose eyes were slowly closing as tiredness started to take over her.
Daisy softly giggled as she watched her daughter. Even with everything that was going on, Nadia always brought out happiness in Daisy she hadn't realized she was able of achieving.
"You know, there's a lot of stuff going on right now, and honestly, it's kind of hard to think about." Daisy knew Nadia couldn't understand a single word she was saying, but it felt nice to vent a little, even if she was venting to an almost four-month-old baby. "There's this thing. We have no idea what the hell he is, but he's walking around with your Grandpa Phil's face, and it's throwing everyone for a loop, especially me and Lao Lao. You know, if he was still alive, I think he'd love you just as much as Lao Lao does. He'd probably call you some sort of nickname. He used to call me Angel Eyes. You truly are an angel. If there's one thing for sure, your Uncle Mack will definitely give you a nickname at some point. I mean we've got Tremors, Turbo, Pebbles, Lemons, the list goes on for all of his nicknames that he has given people."
