Kaz Brekker just kissed her. A million thoughts were racing through Inej's head, but mostly she felt love and happiness radiate out of her. Kaz could barely shake someone's hand, yet he had just kissed her voluntarily. Before he could pull away, she kissed him back. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she kissed him again, this time more deeply and passionately. She had never kissed someone like that before or even felt like that. He kissed her again, tangling his fingers through her long and free-flowing hair. His arms wrapped themselves around her waist and he lifted her up and onto his desk, moving some papers out of the way, all while still kissing her. She pulled away for a second to catch her breath, then leaned forward, their foreheads pressed together. She looked into his dark, bitter coffee eyes and saw love inside them. She was about to about her mouth to say something when a loud crash interrupted her. They exchanged a look, reality coming back to them in a blur and hurried out of his room.
