"Ready?" Lisa asked looking at the little fairy who was on the pile of books placed on the mattress of the bed. The human was at her side, and she was watching her closely, hoping that this time she would be able to make it.

Clare took a deep breath before nodding, she flicked her wings slightly before taking a run and jumping closing her eyes. Fortunately for her, she managed to keep herself aloft for quite some time. She immediately began to smile, and she found herself bringing her clenched fist close to her side in victory. But she inevitably fell back to the mattress and found herself face down.

"I'm fine," she said raising a thumb, gesturing to the human. Lisa began to clap and smile beaming.

"You did it!" Lisa exclaimed happily as the fairy got up from the mattress. She proudly put her hands on her hips grinning. "Did you expect the opposite?" she asked her rhetorically before starting to hop around the mattress looking at her wings. One of these was ruined, cracks went through it and so she couldn't fly for a long time.

But after a month, now, she could at least glide and stay in the air for a while. Lisa laughed at her putting away the books and looking amused at the fairy. She felt a great sense of pride for Clare, who after so many attempts had achieved her goal.

"You are so adorable!" she exclaimed suddenly bringing her hands together with an instinctive gesture to be able to bring the fairy to herself.

Clare was about to retort embarrassed by her comment and give her a murderous look, but when she suddenly felt the human's hands beneath her pushing her upward, she found herself letting out a small scream and widening her eyes to the fright.

She fell back into the human's palms and automatically looked at her in panic. Lisa's smile disappeared as soon as she realized what she had done.

The two had been close enough for a long time, Clare was a lovely fairy, who had a stubborn and grumpy temper. She had her tender moments, she let her hair be stroked and let Lisa kiss her on the head when needed; but there was one thing she Lisa shouldn't do, and that was to grab and carry her, especially without first warning.

Lisa had never understood the reason for her only fear, after all the fairy was used to being very close to her, sometimes they even slept together. Did Clare feel a sense of helplessness when she was in her hands? Probably it was because she couldn't decide how to move?

The human froze, it had been a long time since she had seen the fairy frightened by her, and she immediately felt a pang in her chest. Clare looked around her as her breathing and her pulse suddenly quickened.

"Shit, I'm sorry," the girl said quickly, lowering her hands and leaving the fairy on the mattress again. Clare wanted to insult her, get mad at her, tell her she should be more careful, but at that moment other thoughts of her clouded her mind.

She knelt on her sheet, turning her back to the human and hugging herself, narrowing her eyes. Her wings automatically lowered, mirroring her state of mind. Fear. And not because of something present, but something that happened a long time ago.

Lisa bit her lower lip and reached a hand, she wanted to reassure Clare, but she feared she would scare her even more by touching her. So she opted for another way, she laid down on the bed and placed her head beside the little fairy, not far from her, to look at her.
