Edlynne held tightly the trap covered by her jacket as she walked home in the rain. She held the object with so much concern that it was palpable even to those who saw her pass. Fortunately, there was no one in the house besides her, this would have allowed her not to have to give explanations and invent excuses as to why she was bringing a trap from the garden into her house.
As she entered her room she quickly locked the door and took a deep breath before walking over to the desk and gently removing her jacket. Devika held on to the metal bars in panic as she looked around her bewildered. A human had kidnapped her and brought her into the house, what would become of her now?
"Devika?" But when a familiar voice spoke, the borrower frowned and met two hazel eyes looking at her in concern. At that point, Devika realized she recognized those features, that brown hair pulled back into a wild bun, the freckles that stained her face, and the full plump lips, which she had long ago the opportunity to taste with her own.
The borrower thought back to when they first met. Edlynne was scared and hurt, forced to be smaller than her index finger by a spell, as she had first explained it. Devika had helped her, despite her initial hate towards the human. Seeing her so defenseless and terrified made her sigh and decide to find with her a way to get her back to normal.
During all that time they had both known each other better, Edlynne was not as heartless as Devika had imagined her to be, and sooner or later the borrower began to have feelings for her.
When the human was about to return to normal, Devika had braced herself and left a long kiss on Edlynne's lips before letting her go completely. She knew she would never see her again, so she didn't have to explain to the hazel-eyed girl her feelings. And it was better that way since not even Devika could understand them.
It had been two months since that day, but Devika still seemed to taste those lips of hers that initially quivered with surprise, but then parted to return her kiss.
Edlynne had searched for Devika, even coming to what she had understood to be her refuge. But the borrower precautiously had moved, not too much, but enough to never come into contact with the human again. She knew her feelings would never be reciprocated, and even if they did, she couldn't be in a relationship with someone ten times her size.
She would never admit it, but Edlynne still scared her a little, even after getting to know her and seeing how kind she was to her.
"Devika can you hear me? Don't be afraid, it's me Edlynne" Devika realized that all that time she had kept her gaze lost in front of her to think back to the past, and only the hesitant voice of the human woke her from her state of trance.
The borrower widened her eyes and again met the worried gaze of the human. Devika licked her lips and winced in pain from the wound she had in her leg. She was getting nauseous, both from the pain and from the panic that was causing her.
"Now I'll open the trap, can you walk?" Edlynne asked again noting that she had caught the borrower's attention. Devika gritted her teeth and decided not to answer. Turning around enough to turn away from the human and not look at her.
Why did it have to happen? Why did she have to find her? Devika would have preferred to be captured by any other human. Instead, she had been saved by the one that made her heart beat not only for fear.
"Devika..?" Edlynne's whisper stirred her hair slightly and almost made her shiver. Devika had always loved hearing her say her name.
"Leave me alone" the borrower finally found the strength to speak. Edlynne was surprised by Devika's cold tone and stood silently watching her for a while. When the human noticed her shaking slightly she wasn't sure it was from the cold or her fear.
