Yuri woke up suddenly, quickly sitting up on her bed. She coughed several times until she was almost out of breath. She gaped for air, bringing her hand to her throat.

Her shelter was colder than usual, the borrower shivered as she tried to cover herself as much as possible with the cloth that was her sheet.

She had been sick for two days, and her condition had gotten worst. The supplies ran out and she was starving. As much as she felt like dying, she had to go out and gather something to eat.

She got out of bed, dropping the sheet, and shivered, holding her hot forehead with one hand. She had to hurry up and take what was necessary, then going straight back to bed.

She lived in a small apartment where only one human lived. They had met once, said a few words, and then nothing else happened.

Yuri didn't want to rely on that human, she couldn't trust her. She retrieved the equipment and felt the weight of the backpack multiplied a thousand times.

She coughed even before walking towards the opening in the kitchen. She could keep going only because she was thinking that after she would go back in bed and rest. As soon as she got out of the socket on the counter she looked around the dark room.

It was about eleven in the evening, not that late, and she hadn't checked to see if the human was out. But right now she was more focused on not collapsing on that shelf.

Fortunately for her, she saw a packet of cookies forgotten there and already opened. Perfect, just a cookie. She approached coughing, not even noticing the human who was about to enter the kitchen.

Leyla heard a strange noise and she looked at the counter in confusion. When she spotted the borrower she stepped back and hid behind the door jamb, peeking.

Leyla watched as the borrower trudged towards the end of the counter, surely aiming for the cookies.

Yuri coughed again, pausing and putting her hand in front of her mouth, squinting. The human looked at her worriedly. Yuri didn't seem to be feeling okay.

Leyla knew very well that she couldn't come in, she couldn't help her. She would have made things worse. Yuri was very scared when they first met by accident.

Leyla had promised her to not search for her and never try trapping her, so she did. The human was somehow hoping that Yuri would come to her at some point, maybe try to be her friend.

The human stood there silently, hoping Yuri could get what she needed and then go to rest.

Yuri retrieved her hook and fastened it to the open flap of the package. She started to pull it, but soon after she felt her strength leave her.

She fell back to her knees and began to cough again, she then dropped to the ground, passing out.

Leyla's eyes widened and she came out of hiding. She didn't know whether to approach, but when the packet of cookies fell forward covering the helpless body on the counter, she quickly got closer.

She slowly lifted the package and put away the fallen cookies. Yuri seemed to have passed out, Leyla was glad to see that she was still breathing.

The human noticed how Yuri was trying to curl up on herself. Leyla knew she couldn't leave her there, on the cold marble.

She reached her hand hesitantly and touched her head. She lifted it gently and brushed her forehead. She could feel how warm it was, and Leyla felt even more worried.
