*Killian's POV *

I spent the entire night awake, unable to tear my eyes away from the peaceful face of my princess.

I can't believe I almost lost her. And to someone like Blackbeard. I shuddered and kissed her forehead. She's here now, I told myself. She's safe.

She must've felt my movement, as she started to stir.

*Emma's POV *

I felt Killian shudder. I opened my eyes to find his already on my face.

"What's wrong?" I asked sleepily. He didn't answer. He just closed his eyes and tightened his grip on me. I put my hand on his cheek. "Hey," I waited for him to open his eyes. "I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere. And before you say it, none of this was your fault. You saved me, remember?"

He sighed and pulled me closer. I snuggled deep into his chest and he sighed again.

"I'm just a bit distraught is all. I've grown rather attached to you" he chuckled. "And just so you know, I'm never letting you out of my sight again."

I didn't even argue. I had no intention of leaving his emrace, let alone his sight, any time soon. We'd be back soon, thank goodness.

"Are we still going to the summer palace?" I wondered aloud.

"If that's what you'd like, then that's what we'll do." He said. "But first we have to check in with your parents. They've been worried sick."

"Wait," I pulled back a bit. "Did you tell them about-" but he cut me off.

"They know nothing of the baby, if that's what you're wondering" I settled back into his chest as he spoke. "I thought you'd want to tell them-"

"Together" I interrupted.

"Yes," he continued. "And on that subject, care to tell me a bit more about the child?"

"Our child," I corrected. "And of course. I'm almost 8 weeks along now. I found out the morning of the ball, so I don't know much yet. I know about as much as you do." I laughed at the end.

"Well, I'll just have to bring you to a doctor upon our return," he chuckled too.

I sighed. "This is gunna be crazy isn't it? My homecoming, I mean. Mom's gunna freak out."

"Probably," he laughed. "But it's just because she cares."

"Well that's great and all," I replied. "But she'll just have to hug both of us, because I plan to stay attached to your side for the foreseeable future."

"And am extremely happy with that." Killian laughed again. "I'm not letting you go. Not ever. I spent three and a half weeks leading a navy looking for you. The whole time I felt so guilty. I still do, but I have you here now, so I'm ignoring that."

"Killian," I sat up and he followed. "It wasn't your fault. There was no way to know some random guy was going to come take me."

"That's the problem, Emma. He wasn't random. I've been fighting that man a long time. His name is Blackbeard. I should have known. I should have protected you." He'd been looking at our entwined hands, but he looked up suddenly. "He didn't touch you did he? In any way? If he did I swear-"

"No," I stopped him. "I sat alone in a closet for almost a month. The one time he talked to me, he tried to touch my face. Kept asking what was so special about me. I spit in his face, and that was the end of that. And a few minutes later I was with you. The only man who will ever touch me again is you, my devilishly handsome pirate."

He grinned and pulled me onto his lap. My legs were loose around his waist and my arms took their usual place around his neck as he pulled me to his lips. I was safe now. I was in the safest place in all the worlds.
