*Emma's POV *

I woke up early, finding the bed empty. I didn't think anything of it until I rolled over to see something shining on the side table. I quickly sat up, grabbing his wedding ring off the table with the piece of paper.

My dearest Emma,
I cannot begin to explain how much it hurts me to do this, but I have to keep you, Henry, and our baby safe. I love you more than life itself and I hope with all of my heart that one day I can come back and hold you in my arms once more, but until I can be sure that Sara won't be able to hurt you I must stay away. I hope you find a way to be happy and tell our baby how much I love you both. Goodbye, my Swan, stay safe.
Always yours, Killian Jones

The paper was stained with tears that were soon joined by my own as I read the letter over and over. It was his handwriting but I couldn't make myself believe it. I quickly got up, clutching the note with his ring on my thumb as I ran straight to the docks.

The Jolly Rodger was nowhere to be seen, the dock where it normally sat now empty. My stomach twisted and I fell to my knees, getting sick into the sea.

*David's POV *

I saw Emma run outside in her nightgown, quickly following her to the docks. She fell to an empty dock, getting violently ill before sitting there hyperventilating. I rushed to her, putting my hand on her shoulder and making her flinch.

"Emma, hun," I said causiously. "What's wrong?"

"I... he..." she sobbed between words, her hand shaking as she showed me the note. "He... left... me..."

"Come on," I sighed after a few moments of shocked silence, trying to help her up but she was shaking so badly I just picked her up. She held onto my shirt, sobbing and hiding in the side of my neck like a child. By the time we reached the castle she'd calmed down, crying silently and staring at nothing.

"What happened?" Snow asked when I brought her in and I motioned for her to follow me, laying Emma back in her bed where she immediately curled into a ball. "What's going on? Is she okay?"

"I think," Emma started quietly, still staring into space. "I threw up in my hair."

"Oh, that's alright sweetie," Snow immediately comforted her as she sat in front of her and read the note, her eyes widening in shock. "Is there anything we can do for you? Do you need anything? Or should we just leave you alone?"

"You should probably get a doctor," she sighed, devoid of all emotion aside from the steady stream of tears. "I'm pretty sure I'm in early labor."

*Killian's POV *

I didn't rest until I found Sara, sailing across the entire realm to find her in a tavern. I sat down across from her and she looked up in surprise.

"What are you doing here?" She asked after swallowing her drink. "Why aren't you off with miss perfect princess and your baby?"

"Because you and I need to finish this," I almost snapped at her immediate mention of Emma. "I know how you work and I won't spend my life in fear that I'll wake up one morning to find my wife dead in my arms- again."

"But why now?" She asked, leaning forward on her arms. "Why right after this wife you love so much gives birth, huh? Disappointed it was a daughter instead of a son or something?"

"What?" I barely whispered, tears gathering in my eyes. "I have a daughter?"

"Wow," she laughed a little, leaning back on the wall. "Yeah, Hook, you have a daughter. She was born probably right after you left given how long it takes to get here, but from what I've heard your princess hasn't named her yet."

"Sara, please," I genuinely begged her. "I'll do anything you ask, just please let me go home to my wife."

"Oh my god," her eyes narrowed and she crossed her arms. "You left her over this, didn't you? You actually left her."

"Well, I," I looked down, feeling bare and exposed without my wedding ring. "I thought if I wasn't actually with her you wouldn't go after her to get to me."

"You're an even bigger moron than I thought," she sighed and I looked back up, seeing her shake her head. "I may despise you, but I'm not that petty. I didn't spend much time around you two, but I'm pretty sure that was a pretty intimate moment and you know what- you were nauseatingly happy. Emma or whatever her name is, she didn't do anything to me but defend her family and I'd never go after someone who was nothing but honorable."

"Oh," I looked away again. "I guess Emma's right, I am an idiot."

"Yeah," she almost laughed again. "It appears your princess knows you quite well. So what are you still doing talking to me? You should be on your way back to her."

"I don't think she's mine anymore," I said quietly. "I was the only person who never abandoned her, but that's exactly what I did two weeks ago. I don't think I can get past her walls again."

"Just shut up and go," she said, suddenly yanking me up. "Whatever walls she has you have to try, and if she loves you the way you love her, she'll let you in eventually. Either way you have a kid out there, you have to go back."

I sailed back as fast as my ship would take me, getting there just over a month after I'd left. I ran to the castle, nearly running smack into David. His eyes widened as he registered who I was, his fist colliding with my face.

"How dare you show your face here!" He yelled as I wiped blood from my face. "You have no right to be here after what you did to her!"

"You think I don't know that?" I agreed and he looked a bit shocked behind his anger. "I can't even imagine what I must have put her through, especially if the rumors are true and she gave birth right after I left. But I refuse to believe that I can't get a second chance and even if she hates me forever, I won't abandon my child. I love my family more than anything so I'm not giving up."

"Damn it," he cursed, shoving me down the hall. He led me to the bedroom door, his voice lowering as he turned to me. "She doesn't hate you, she misses you. But that baby and Henry have become her entire focus, to the point where I honestly don't think she ever puts her down. She just sits in her room, usually with Henry, and just talks to her all the time. It's late and Henry's in bed, but if you listen carefully, you can hear her talking. I suggest you do before you go in there."

He walked away and I stepped closer to the door, listening intently. I could just barely make out her words, closing my eyes and nearly breaking down at the sound of her voice.

"That's mommy's girl," she said softly, her voice almost like music through the door. "Go to sleep and dream beautiful dreams while mommy watches over you. You're so loved, baby girl, just like daddy used to tell you all the time. One day you'll be strong enough and you, me, and your big brother will go find him and he'll love you just as much as we do, I promise."

Before I could lose my nerve I took a breath, opening the door and slipping inside quietly.

Sorry about any mistakes, I'm on vacation so I'm just trying really hard to keep updating. Especially after last night, like, I'm dying. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the chapter!
