Lonely

*Emma's POV *

I forced myself to smile and pretend to be okay, at least during the day when I was with my mom and Henry. They did their best, and I had to remind myself that my mom was missing her husband as well. But our relationship was different somehow- like the years of walls and heartbreak had made us ridiculously dependant and clingy. Being separated wasn't something we handled well in any sense.

At night though, I couldn't hold it together anymore. I couldn't seem to sleep alone anymore, missing the strong arms that fit around me so perfectly and needing to feel his warm breath on my skin to feel right. Henry tried to make it easier, spending some nights in my room so I wasn't alone. The bed was just too cold and lonely without him, I usually couldn't even bear to lay in it, just wandering down by the docks as if I could will him to come home.

It'd been over two months since Killian left and weeks since we heard anything from them, making me physically sick with worry. I thought my body was going to implode from all this. I wasn't supposed to go out during the day, since I was still in hiding until they got home, but one day I just couldn't take it anymore.

I was five months pregnant now, so dresses had become my only option. I put on a nice navy blue one that actually made my bump look cute and my mom approved of for a princess, putting my cloak on over it. I pulled up the hood and snuck out the back, heading towards town.

I wandered around town a while, buying new stationary for myself and Killian in case we needed it again and sitting at the bakery to put together the photo album I'd gotten. A while later I noticed people rushing around, many heading to the docks and stopped the waitress.

"Excuse me," I said quietly. "What's going on?"

"Oh, it's just supply day," she said simply, continuing when I looked at her questioningly. "Once a month all the ships come in at the same time and everyone stocks up. It's first come first serve after the castle gets what they need so people get pretty worked up. If I was in your condition, I would head home before it gets too crazy."

"My condition?" I asked, putting my hands on my belly without thinking about it. "Oh, the baby? What does that have to do with anything?"

"Well some pretty shady people come in with the ships, but that's not what I meant," she said then her voice got quieter as she sat across from me. "I just meant how sick you've been. I know who you are and someone on those ships is bound to, too. It's not really safe for you out here."

"Oh," I said a little shocked. "Uhm, thank you for telling me. I'll just, uhm, go then."

"Here," she stood and offered me her hand, helping me stand. "I'll walk you back. Most men know not to bother me so they'll back off of you."

"Thank you," I said again awkwardly, pulling up my hood as we started walking.

*Killian's POV*

The last two months could be summed up in one word- hell. It'd taken weeks to get to Blackbeard and get him under control enough to come face execution, then even longer to get back. I usually just kept guard outside his cell, unable to sleep without her safe in my arms and needing to be sure this would really end.

We'd run out of stationary weeks ago so I knew Emma was probably worrying herself sick, especially since I couldn't tell her I would be home with the supply ships. We docked and I sprinted back to the castle, going straight to our room but finding it empty. I ran to Snow, assuming she'd be with her or at least know where she was.

"I'm not sure where she is," Snow said, clearly worried as well. "She was supposed to meet Henry and I for lunch, but she never showed. I figured she was taking a nap since she hasn't been sleeping."
