As I ran through the halls, my black heels collided with the floor, echoing around. The music was faint in the background as I turned a corner and started heading up the grand staircase. I held up the front of my dress slightly so I wouldn't trip over it as I moved quickly to the top of the stairs. Theory's ran around my head as I reached the top of the staircase turning another corner.
I slowly reached the last corridor of the east wing and at the end of it was Elizabeth, as she said she would be, looking out of the window.
"Took you long enough." She said without looking at me.
"I was busy."
"I know. Now, come here and look at this amazing view with me."
"I'm good here. I don't really want to get stabbed tonight if that's alright."
"But isn't red your favourite colour." She turned around. "I mean you changed your name to a shade of red," She walked closer to me. "And your always wearing something red." Closer. "Surly that's your favourite colour. No?" At this point she was right in front of my face.
"It is but I don't want to be covered in my own blood. Not tonight at least."
"Dance with me."
"Excuse me?"
"I said dance with me." The music was faint, but it was there.
"Why?"
"Because, in that big ballroom with people watching, I can't say what I want to say to you."
"You can do that without dancing."
But before I could do anything else, she had grabbed my arm and we were now swaying side to side.
"There. Perfect."
"Speak."
"I never wanted to kill Lilly."
"Then why do it?"
"The week before, I sent an anonymous letter to their bass, telling them someone might attack that building and if your inside you will die. They obviously didn't listen."
"We were trained to fight. Not run away like cowards."
"Just listen. I sent my men the next week to go and blow up the building but of course Sam, Poppy and Lilly had to be there, and they attacked first. My men were just protecting themselves."
"No. They wanted blood. And they got my girlfriends blood."
"I liked Lilly. When we first met. She was kind to me. And you. Sam and Poppy weren't fond of me. They immediately disliked me. But the thing was I hadn't done anything wrong to them, I just decided that from then on, they didn't like me. So, I didn't like them either. I loved you and poppy you too amazing friends to me for that week. But when you disappeared, but he didn't return from the shop, when your bags and uniform were left, I got worried. So, I went outside to look for you. And that's when the police arrived."
"But why. Why didn't you just tell the police that there were four others. Why didn't they search the house? We could be reunited before now."
"I try it I did, but they refused to go into the house they said that I was making up lies they wouldn't listen to me. So, when I was sent off to that school my view on people changed. I refuse to trust people. I didn't have any friends. And when I finally graduated, these men tried to attack me, but I stopped them. I ran far."
"but that doesn't explain why you killed Lilly. it doesn't explain why you didn't reach out after you graduated."
"I tried. I tried reaching out to Lily I tried reaching out to you no one answers I said letters on letters on letters I didn't get single reply. that's when I decided I didn't like you and Lily either. and that's when I found all the men you heard beaten up almost killed killed family members of. then I had my only army. and I started attacking. I didn't mean to kill Lily that day. but it sends a message. And then you had trouble with your father, and I thought you know what I'll leave her she's got enough to deal with. Then he died. And then that Michael guy, who I don't understand you dated by the way, died. then all is back in the game. You inherited this Castle, you are hosting a dance, and I finally got an invite. That's when I realised that you'd be dead tonight."
"I think you'll find you're the one who's going to be dead tonight. And then I'll spit on your grave."
she smirked.
"So, you'll visit me when I'm dead? That's nice to know. Maybe then you'll realise that you love me."
"Only when hell freezes over, will I have any other feeling towards you than hate." I pushed her away. "You killed my girlfriend!" I yelled.
At this point, she was holding my own dagger to my throat and holding me against the wall.
I stared into her eyes. Those eyes. The eyes I loved when I was 7 years old. The eyes that used to be filled with love. Those eyes were now filled with, heartbreak, anger, and pain. Some people say that your eyes are the doorway to your soul and at this point in time, I agreed. Her eyes were a lot like mine, I'm sure if you stared into my eyes long enough, you would also see pain, heartbreak, and anger. Looking at both of our lives, neither of us had it easy. We both had trauma we would never get over, no family, no simple childhood. Our lives were pretty much the same, but we just ended up different.
"Do it." I snarled.
"Don't tempt me Scarlett."
I pushed my neck into the blade, drawing a bit of blood.
"Don't do that."
"Why not? You won't do it so; I'll do it myself."
I pushed myself into the blade further, drawing more blood, but not enough to kill me. Not yet.
"I said stop it!" And with that she had pulled the blade away from my throat.
"Why'd you stop?" I asked sarcastically.
"Because..."
"Because what? Don't you have the guts to kill me? Need your army of men to do it for you? Huh? Want me to do it myself? If you want me dead, then do it!" I yelled.
And with that, Elizabeth pressed her lips harshly onto mine.
