Eddie's POV:

My ears were ringing and my pulse quickened. "What?"

"Eddie, you need to stay calm," Athena said.

I looked at Buck and he was already looking at me, he knelt to rest on one knee. He appeared to be praying, I had my overprotective instincts kicking in and felt like crying. Two of the people I love the most are in that building right now and I seemed to end things on bad terms with them both. I knelt, my left hand was in a fist on the ground and my right hand was on my forehead. I grabbed ahold of the Saint Christopher medal that hung around my neck, I finished my prayer and was hoping it was heard, I needed them to be safe, I can't live without Christopher and Samantha. God, she probably thinks I hate her!

I stood up and nodded at Bobby, "Okay, I'm ready to go in."

"No, you aren't going anywhere. Especially when you have family inside." Athena said looking between myself and Buck. "That goes for you too Buckley."

"I need to get them out!" I yelled.

"This attitude is exactly why you can't go inside. You will be shot and killed, that does no one any good."

I clenched my fists but I understood. Another vehicle pulled up, it was the S.W.A.T. team. They were here to get them out, I was so nervous about this, I walked over to Buck and his eyes were glazed over with tears. I was trying to stay strong and hopeful that my two loves would be okay. I need to fix things with Sam before I lose her for good, I understand what she was saying about Ana now, I feel like such a jackass. The guilt just keeps bubbling inside of me, I couldn't live with myself if I didn't get the chance to apologize.

The S.W.A.T. team was inside the school and I was left to pace back and forth. Hen and Bobby were setting up a safe area for the evacuated students to stand, Chimney, Buck, and I were keeping parents away from the school. It was really tough, but it was the only thing I could do. "Please let me in! My twins are inside!"

Buck had ahold of her and I grabbed her shoulders, "Ma'am, please listen to me, it is unsafe for you to go inside at this moment. Trust me, it's taking everything in myself to not run in that building. My son and my girlfriend are both inside that school, but I have to wait out here, same as you. Please, let them do their job by doing yours."

She nodded and walked back behind the barricades. The S.W.A.T. team came outside with the first group of kids, they looked young, probably kindergarten students. Bobby recorded all of the kid's names and when their parents were able to sign them out once they were accounted for.

One by one kids were taken out of the school, no sign of Christopher or Samantha yet though. My pulse spiked and over the radio, shouts were heard. "Shots fired! Shots fired!"

Buck and I took off running towards the building Buck was tackled by a S.W.A.T. team member. "No! I need to help my sister!"

I kept running and was dropped by a different S.W.A.T. member. "Please let me go, my son and girlfriend are in there. I'm a medic, I need to make sure everyone is okay."

"Sir, you need to back away from this school. Let us check on everyone, we will get your loved ones out to you soon."

I stayed lying in the grass and started tearing up, "I can't lose them! I have nothing left besides them,"

"Eddie, come on," Bobby said and helped me to my feet, he walked me to the engine and had me take my gear off, I was pacing back and forth.

I squeezed my eyes shut and heard my name, I turned to face a teary-eyed Maddie. "Eddie!" I pulled Maddie into a hug and shut my eyes again. "How're you holding up?"
