Sam's POV:

May 10th, 2020

I wanted to wait a few days to ensure I wasn't just late. I didn't have my period at all, Eddie was spending the day with Christopher so I ran to the hospital to get bloodwork done; Nic was by my side the entire time since I didn't want to say anything to Eddie yet. I don't want to get his hopes up only for it to be false hope. It was in fact not false hope, Nic came back to me with the positive results and I was unsure how to feel. I had to go and get groceries and got a pregnancy test in case the doctors were wrong.

When I got home, I carried the groceries inside, the test was in my purse. Eddie and Chris were putting the food away so I snuck off to the bathroom to take the test. My heart pounded so fast, I set the test on the countertop and paced in the bathroom. I was mumbling about situations to myself, I was trying to reassure myself that it was going to be okay. The timer on my phone went off making me jump out of my skin. I turned it off, grabbed the test, took a deep breath, opened my eyes, and looked at it. Tears were forced to my eyes, the doctors were right, the test was positive. I nodded and looked at myself in the mirror as my realization hit me. I set the test down and lifted my shirt, I set my hand on my tummy and about collapsed from shock and joy. I let the tears fall as I sat on the floor, "You are so loved already," I whispered.

I hid the test in my box of tampons, I had to come up with a creative way to tell Eddie. "Sam!"

I opened the door and wiped my tears, "Yeah?"

"We have to go,"

"Where?"

"I got called into work and I know lately you've been asking to go with us on a call. This one you can help with."

"O-Okay,"

Carla was at the door in a matter of minutes. "Thank you for getting here so quick!"

"No problem. Go save lives!"

Eddie pulled me out the door, I didn't look the greatest, I was in a pair of jeans and a crew neck, my hair was in a ponytail and I was wearing my worn-out black Converse. Eddie got us to the 118 firehouse as quickly as possible. He dressed within 5 minutes and we were off in the fire truck. Eddie had gotten me all situated with the headset and seatbelt. I was across from Eddie and next to Buck.

We arrived on a large plot of land. There was a house with a mother looking around, "Ma'am, what's the problem?" Hen asked.

"I can't find my son! His name is Hayden, he's only 6 years old."

"Alright, we will find him," Chimney said.

"This is why I need you, you work with kids all the time, where would he have gone?" Eddie asked me.

I nodded and started looking around while Bobby gave the others orders. Everyone was fanned out, I saw a toy car and tried to follow the footsteps but I lost them, I looked around and took a few steps forward. My foot went straight through the ground and I let out a frightened scream.

Eddie and Buck were at my side in seconds. "Are you okay?"

I nodded, was helped to my feet, and looked where my foot went through the ground. It actually wasn't ground at all, it was a metal pipe. I looked at Eddie and he ran to get Bobby. "Are you sure your leg is okay? You didn't break anything, Sammy?" Buck asked

"No, I'm okay."

The 118 came running over to me and started examining the pipe. They went and got a camera to drop down the pipe and sure enough he was down there. My jaw dropped, I couldn't imagine how scared he must be.
