Sam's POV:

July 25th, 2020

The day Eddie and I went to see the house, we fell in love immediately, it is such a gorgeous home and we couldn't wait to move in. We managed to pay all cash for the house which was impressive to us. Eddie and Buck were currently at the hardware store picking up some supplies while Maddie and I were trying to determine which room would be which. Christopher got first pick and he surprisingly took one that's upstairs. So Eddie and I decided to go upstairs too. The third room upstairs would be converted into a nursery and the two rooms on the main floor would be an office and guest room.

Eddie's family was going to show up today, I was grateful for that too because I couldn't wait to meet them.

"The wedding is less than a month away. Are you excited?"

"Yeah, of course, I am. But trying to schedule fittings right now is so difficult."

"I can imagine so, have you thought about who's standing at your side and Eddie's?"

"I was hoping you would be my maid of honor,"

"Wait, really?"

"Yeah, of course. I want that more than anything."

"I gladly accept then!"

I hugged my sister and smiled, the door opened and I heard voices that I didn't recognize mixed with those I did. "Sam! Come here baby,"

I smiled at Eddie's voice, I walked over to where he was located and smiled brightly at Eddie, I saw two figures and I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed. "You must be the lovely Samantha that I've heard so much about. We are Eddie's parents," His mother spoke.

My cheeks heated up and I nodded, "That's me, it is so great to finally meet you both."

"The pleasure is ours from what he's told us, you are a complete saint."

I scrunched up my nose and laughed lightly, "That's sweet Eddie,"

He shrugged and wrapped his arm around my shoulder, "What can I say, that's just who I am."

"Hey, where's Buck?" I asked.

"He is-"

"Right here, the best man is here."

I glanced at Eddie, "You really asked my brother to be your best man?"

"Yeah, why? Did you ask Maddie to be your maid of honor?"

I laughed, "Yes, Mr. and Mrs. Diaz, this is my brother Evan but everyone calls him Buck and my sister is in the living room, her name is Maddie."

"It is great to meet you, Buck, I apologize for Sophia and Adriana. They will be here shortly, they overslept."

Eddie smirked, "Not surprised."

We all went and sat in the living room, and each of us talked amongst each other, I got to know Eddie's parents and I got along with them well. They were so kind and it made me even more excited to become a part of the family. There was a knock on the door so I went and got it, "You must be Sam!" One said and pulled me into a hug.

I smiled, "That is me,"

"Sophia, don't suffocate her," Eddie called from behind me.

"Sophia, so that makes you Adriana?"

Adriana looked me up and down, her gaze didn't appear to be friendly. "Yeah," She mumbled.

"Is everything okay?" I asked with a smile.

She didn't answer and walked into the living room. I looked at Sophia and she just shrugged, "You are so much prettier than I expected! How did Eddie manage to get you?"

I laughed, "I met Eddie because of Christopher, I am his assistant teacher."

"What a small world."

We walked into the living room, Adriana was sitting by her parents, a smug look on her face. I sat next to Eddie and took his hand, I was trying to figure out Adriana and what was going through her head. "Now that you are all here, my fiancée and I have an announcement to make." Eddie started, he looked at me and I smiled. "Sam and I are expecting twins in January."

Eddie's parents looked shocked but happy, Sophia was glowing with excitement, and Adriana looked pissed. She stood up and walked outside, "Unbelievable."

I pushed myself off the couch and followed her outside, "Adriana? What's the problem?"

"You, you're the problem."

"I don't understand."

She rolled her eyes, "Of course you don't. My brother is too good for you and I can't believe he is fathering your children."

A pang of hurt and anger hit me. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"It means that you are white trash and my brother should never have gotten involved with a white girl."

"Did you forget about Shannon?"

"Shannon was born and raised in New Mexico and is a Spaniard. You are as white as Casper the ghost."

I shrugged it off, "Okay, but what does my heritage have to do with my personality and who I am? Nothing, why can't you just be happy that your brother is happy?"

"What's going on out here?" Eddie asked.

"You are marrying a white girl and having children with her! The Eddie I knew would never do that,"

"You didn't know me very well then,"

"What does that mean?"

"It means that I dated white girls all throughout high school. Sure, Shannon was Spaniard and Mariana was Puerto Rican, but it doesn't change who they are on the inside. I love Samantha and I love my children, nothing anyone says will ever change that. Besides, it isn't your decision to make!"

"Wow, you really got your hooks in on him, don't you Blanca?"

I was feeling more and more hurt as time passed. "Adriana, you don't have to like Sam, but she is going to be your sister-in-law and she is going to be the mother of your nieces/nephews."

"Whatever," Adriana got in her car and left, I turned to face Eddie with tears in my eyes, I opened my mouth to say something but nothing came out.

"It's okay," Eddie said and wrapped me in a hug. "I'm sorry, I didn't know she felt that way."

I started crying and I felt guilty, I just wanted to meet Eddie's family, and one of them was already gone.

"Don't you dare cry, it isn't your fault, you are gorgeous and I would love you regardless of your skin color or heritage because you're my soulmate and you're stuck with me for life."

I nodded, "I love you, Eddie."

"I love you too,"

Eddie dried my tears and we walked back inside, Eddie explained what happened and his family members apologized which wasn't necessary at all. "Adriana has always been the black sheep of the family, don't mind her at all."

I nodded and saw Christopher and Carla walk in. I couldn't help but smile as his eyes lit up at the sight of my siblings and his dad's family.

Such a beautiful moment, and even when there were flickers, every storm passed eventually. Eventually...
