AN: Since I didn't really specified your birthday, it's gonna happen in this chapter.
Previously:
You take a handkerchief and take some of his blood. "Rest in peace." You turn and leave, with sword in hand and small tears in the corners of your eyes.
Currently:
It's been three months since you killed the Boss. You kept the katana in the armory in a special place. It was a sad trophy of your kill. You had to move on though.
You were turning 11 tomorrow. You haven't really celebrated your birthday since you were two, and you barely remember it. Now that you actually had a friend to celebrate with, you were wondering if it would be alright to celebrate it.
Toga walked into the library and sat down across from you. "Whatch'a thinking about?"
Without looking up from the book you were reading about Abstergo and it's history, you responded. "Just reading and thinking about tomorrow."
Her face flashed confusion, "What's happening tomorrow?"
"It's my birthday. I'm turning 11."
"Why didn't you tell me earlier?! I could've set up a party, or gotten you a gift, or, or..."
You set down your book and patted her on the head. "It's alright Toga, don't worry about it. I'm used to it."
"What do you mean you're used to it?"
You gave her a sad smile and petted M who was laying under you. "The last birthday I properly celebrated was with my mom. It was my second birthday."
She stood up and walked over before enveloping you in a hug. "I'm sorry." She stayed like that for a few moments before standing up properly and smiling. It made you happy when she smiled. "Well, it's decided then! Me and M are going to make this the best birthday party you've ever seen! Or at least as good of one as we can make with two people and a dog."
M barked in approval. You laughed at their enthusiasm. "Alright, so should I leave the hideout so you two can get it prepared?"
Toga nodded before proceeding to push you out the door. "That's right, now get a move on. come back tomorrow morning. Take a warehouse or something, I don't know."
"Alright, alright. I'm going. I'll see you tomorrow Toga." You walked to your room and changed into casual clothes.
You then left the hideout and just went walking. You weren't really planning on taking on a templar controlled building so soon, so you didn't really have anywhere to go.
You just wandered around looking at different shops. You never really got a chance to just look around and relax. Since you were two you were working to survive and keep yourself and the Assassins going.
You also were just in your own thoughts about other things as well. You tried to keep them off the Templars right now. That only left you with one train of thought though. Toga.
She was nice, and an amazing assassin. But you were wondering if there was something more there. A relationship that wasn't just professional.
Every time she gets excited you can't help but smile. You're proud of the way she's progressed in terms of training and how quickly she picked up everything that she was apart of now. You've caught her taking glances at you, and when she would sometimes blush it was adorable. The warmth that you felt when she would cuddle you in bed. Her smiles and the way they lifted up your mood.
It was confirmed in your mind that you liked her. It wasn't love yet, you two haven't known each other that long and you both were too young. Hell, the only thing she knew of your past was that you were two when you had your last birthday.
You were brought out of your thoughts when you bumped into a man. "Hey watch it kid!"
Looking up at the man, you saw Endeavor. Looking behind him you saw a boy about your age with red and white hair. He had a scar on his left eye and seemed like he really didn't want to be there. "Sorry about that sir."
With that little interaction over you continued on your way. If only you could just get it done and over with. But his kid was right there and you didn't want to kill someone right in front of their kid. No one should go through what you had to.
With nothing else to do you decide to find a place to hunker down for the night. You decide to relive the old days of finding a safe place on a rooftop. You climb up a roof, completely ignoring the bystanders watching you.
Once you reach the roof, you sit against the lip of the roof and pull your hood over your head.
The next morning you use the ziplines to get back to the sanctuary. As soon as you walk in, you hit a tripwire. It seemingly does nothing.
You continue on and reach the central chamber where it's dark. You kept your guard up when suddenly the lights came on and you were blinded. "SURPRISE!" Toga suddenly hugged you from behind and you were tackled from the front by M.
You all fell down. You and Toga were laughing. This was fun. "Thanks guys."
You and Toga got up, "No problem Y/N. We needed a bit of a break from the assassin stuff anyways."
You nodded, "Yeah we did. Speaking of, we should be careful. I ran into Endeavor not far from here."
Here face soured, "Dammit." It then quickly regained the smile she had not long before. "Well enough about work, we're here to celebrate, so let's celebrate!" She pulled you over to a table she had set up with food, and a cake. You could also see a large present on the end of the table.
After singing happy birthday, you all spent the day just relaxing and hanging out. After a few hours you finally got to open the present.
Tearing through the wrapping paper reveals this.
The Animus 3.0. You hugged Toga, "Thank you so much." She was blushing but you couldn't see it.
"You're welcome Y/N, I'd assume you'd like to try it out ASAP, but I'd like to continue spending the day with you."
"Of course Toga."
You didn't have a lot of experience, but for you, this was the best birthday ever.
