Chapter 32 - Jiro's Test of Skills

Previously:

They took their leave to the other side of the room and talked among themselves taking glances at you every now and then. Then Toga and Yaoyorozu walked in followed by their opponents. Damnit, you missed the fight.

Currently:

Toga came back and looked to you excited. "Did you see me out there?"

You patted her head, "Sorry Himiko the new teachers needed to discuss something with me." She glanced at them but soon dismissed them in favor of the feeling of your hand on her head. Looking around, you see Jiro glance at you before she walks out of the observation room. "Well let's see what Jiro can do."

She is followed by yellow haired guy who has a black lightning bolt going through it named Kaminari. You looked to the screens around the room so you could spectate your new potential recruit. 

Looking at her opponents of Aoyama and Mina you figured that Mina would be the most difficult in close quarters. So, depending on how well she treated this would change how much training she needed. 

"HEROES MAY ENTER THE BUILDING!" Jiro and Kaminari entered the door to begin the exercise. One of her jacks plugged into the wall. She pointed up, probably indicating the bomb was on a higher floor. She then said something to Kaminari, but you couldn't hear what.

They then continued stealthily trying to make sure they got the jump on their opponents. Although it was short lived since a laser got shot at them from the stairs. Mina then attacked from a room behind them. Although, the two heroes didn't seem worried at all. 

Jiro stuck her jacks into her boots and shot a wave of sound at Aoyama on the stairs. The wave destroyed the stairs he was on. Aoyama then fell because his floor crumbled, and he landed on his back holding his stomach. 

Meanwhile, Kaminari charged Mina in an attempt to catch her off-guard. Which it did but she recovered quickly and threw acid at him. He dodged the majority of it but got some on his jacket. As soon as he got close enough, he released his quirk in a web of electricity. She backflipped out of the way which was really impressive. But Kaminari was out because he was in a stupefied state.

So, both Aoyama and Kaminari were out leaving only Jiro and Mina. You analyzed the fighters while still keeping your hand on Toga's head. Mina is a much more agile fighter, but Jiro is a smarter fighter. It was anyone's game right now.

They then charged at each other. Jiro started with a wild haymaker that Mina easily dodges. Mina takes a few quick jabs at Jiro's side. Jiro takes one to the ribs but catches the next one with her jack. Taking advantage of her new grapple Jiro punches Mina in the face. Mina gets rocked but recovers and pulls away, stretching Jiro's jacks with her.

In pain, Jiro lets go and prepares herself to defend against Mina's next attack. Speaking of, Mina goes for a high kick which Jiro blocks with her forearm. Although it does knock her a little off balance. Mina takes advantage of her blunder and uses her momentum to do a push kick with the same leg completely kicking Jiro to the ground.

Jiro tries to get up but is stopped by Mina approaching. A flying knee is sent out at Jiro who moves away and grabs Mina leg to trip her up. Mina face plants on the ground and Jiro gets on top and starts laying haymakers on the back of her head. On one of them Mina hits her head on the ground and gets knocked unconscious.

"HERO TEAMS WINS!" Jiro gets off of Mina's back and medical bots rush in to take everyone else to the infirmary. Those hits on Mina were brutal. You'd be surprised if she didn't have a concussion. 

Jiro came back holding her ribs where she got punched. She was the only one left conscious. "NOW AGAIN, WHO WAS THE MVP OF THIS MATCH?!" 

This time instead of letting Yaoyorozu take the spotlight you stepped up. "I believe it was Jiro sir. She led her team into an easily countered ambush and turned it to their side. Then when her teammate was unable to fight, she finished them off with hand-to-hand combat. If it was a bit brutal at the end."

"I AGREE WITH YOU WHOLEHEARTEDLY, GOOD JOB YOUNG L/N! YOU AS WELL YOUNG JIRO! UNFORTUNATELY, THAT'S ALL THE TIME WE HAVE FOR TODAY SO I WILL SEE ALL OF YOU AT A LATER DATE!"

He then dashed away followed by the Cormacs, albeit at a slower pace. The adults were still talking and taking the occasional glance at you.

You were about to follow them so you could go home. Toga grabbed your arm so she could hold it while you walked. You were stopped from going too far though. Jiro grabbed your shoulder. "Let's talk. At your place." 

You smiled, "Sure, but get yourself to the infirmary. You keep holding your ribs like it hurts pretty bad." She smiles a bit, but it turned into a grimace of pain. She then walked back to the main building to get medical treatment. 

You and Toga talked about what You and the Cormacs talked about. She seemed more worried about the situation than you were. You thought you played it well. You changed back into your uniform and walked back to the classroom. 

All in all, Jiro did seem pretty useful. Although her athletic ability needed some major work. Her quirk and battle instincts were pretty good. Hopefully she would agree to be an Assassin. But there's no guarantee in the regard. 

She did pretty good in this test. Whether or not she knew she was being tested.
