Previously:
Man, you really were like a father to her. Who knew you'd figure all that out with a simple doctor's visit.
Currently:
It's been two years since that doctor's visit, you were 15, Toga was 14, and Eri was six. The family dynamic you had already was in full affect. Eri even called Toga and you Mom and Dad.
Speaking of Eri, she has been doing really good in her training. She was learning how to run and jump at speed as well as learning more from the library. She wasn't a natural like you were, and she didn't have the experience that Toga had. She had promise though. She was fast and sneaky which was probably her main form of survival on the streets.
You were worried though. Eventually you'd have to introduce her to the true nature of your work.
In other news the U.A. Entrance exam was coming up in about half a year and you needed a fake I.D. If you registered with your real last name at least, you'd be found out immediately. Luckily your relationship with the black market has improved and many people that partook in it's spoils owed you something.
Using a burner phone, you contacted the I.D. maker and set up an appointment to get everything from your current I.D. to your birth certificate forged. You also needed to make sure they were in the records so you also contacted the Secretary of record keeping.
Using your computer and sending their contact information to each other you just let them do their thing until they contact you for whatever they need to get it done.
You sat back in your chair, running your hands through your hair. This was it, you were finally going undercover and infiltrating the most protected building in the country. First you had to figure out how to pass the exam.
The hero course had the most interaction with Nezu, so you were aiming for that. You didn't know what the exam would entail. You couldn't find anything online probably to keep students on their toes.
The best thing you could do was study and train how you normally do. Maybe more intensely than usual.
You looked around the library. M was at your feet and Eri was across from you reading about some techniques. It's nice to see she had the same drive you did at her age.
Toga was off doing her own thing. Probably fulfilling a contract or getting intel. The stuff you had was kind of outdated, Nezu has probably recruited and promoted more people in his order. You two have been slacking a little in terms of liberating Japan, but you two were still young and had a kid to take care of.
"Hey Eri, how's learning our "magic" going?"
She looked at you and smiled, "It's going good. I've learned it's less magic, and more skill and technology."
"I'm glad you've learned that. Anything else you've learned?"
She brought her finger up to her chin. "I've learned about a bunch of techniques in fighting and climbing. Although there are still some scrolls at the top that I can't quite climb to yet." You sighed in relief, those were the killing techniques. She continued either not noticing or not caring about the sigh you just released, "I've also learned a lot about history, the true history, of the world. Although I'm not completely caught up. I'm somewhere in Scandinavia right now."
Ah yes, you remember learning about that part of history, it was rife with reincarnations of the Isu. Loki being one of the more prominent ones. It's also how Norse mythology came to be.
(AN* I haven't play AC Valhalla, so I'm just going off of what I know.)
"Yeah, it's crazy to think we were partially responsible for the creation of a whole religion."
She giggled, "Yeah sometimes it seems the Assassins really are magic."
Yeah, there was no way, you were gonna keep the names and conflicts of the two organizations away from her. They were in many of the books and scrolls she'd already read. Soon you'd have to tell her everything.
"Well Eri, since we don't really have anything to do today, why don't we start on combat training?"
Eri's eyes lit up. Ever since she first say you and Toga moving around and training with your weapons, she had become fascinated. She slammed the book closed and sprinted to you before grabbing your wrist and dragging you to the armory, "Come on Dad, let's go! I wanna pick out my sword and stuff!"
You laughed, "Alright, alright. But just know I won't teach you sword techniques yet. You'll do swings to get used to the weight. We should focus on hand to hand combat first."
She wasn't listening though, "Yeah yeah yeah, whatever, sword, now."
Rolling your eyes, you finally made it to the armory. You'd built up your stock since last time. Finding a local blacksmith was a godsend. Hatsume, I think his name was. Anyway, you had a bunch weapons, from swords to great axes, halberds to daggers, you had it all. But on top of all that, you still had Kage Kaizoku, the Yakuza leader's sword, on display. A grim trophy of the man you had to kill.
As you looked at the katana sorrowfully, Eri was looking in awe at all the weapons on display. Going around and inspecting every single one. She was seriously eyeing a large bastard sword before quickly turning to you. "Dad, I want-"
She stopped, she saw the look in your eyes, and followed them to the katana. "What's that one Dad?"
You looked at her, "It's a trophy, but also a shrine to a great man. A man I had to kill." Now was a good a time as any. She would find out soon. You proceeded to tell her about what was really happening. Maybe it was a moment of weakness, or just a welling feeling of guilt but you just had to tell her.
She needed to know the truth.
