Chapter 15- A Reflection of Yourself

Previously:

As you turned the corner to get in the alley for the entrance, you saw something small curled up in front of the entrance, and you could hear sobs coming out of it.

Currently:

You set down the bags and motioned for Toga to stay back.

Using your Eagle Vision, you saw the curled up thing had a fading gold silhouette. Cautiously approaching it you turned off your eagle vision and saw a small child with greyish hair. You couldn't see their face just yet.

You crouched down a bit away from the child and spoke softly, "Little one?" The kid just whimpered more and curled into a tighter ball. "It's alright I'm not here to hurt you. I want to help."

The kid lifted their head just enough to look at you, and you saw a flash of red before it went back to hiding in their arms. You tried to think of something to put her at ease and then you had it. "Hey do you wanna see something cool?" You looked back at Toga and motioned up to the switch.

You had their attention now. "What is it?" Judging from the voice you could tell they were female.

You smiled a little bit, "Well scooch over and I'll show ya." She giggled a little at your word choice. She shuffled over a little and you moved closer, you were finally able to see her. 

She had two ruby red eyes and long grey hair. There was a small horn on the right side of her head. She had bruises on her arms and legs as well as the odd scar her or there.

You looked at the wall and yelled, "Open Sesame!" The wall started moving to allow you access inside. You then looked at the awestruck girl, "Well, wanna come inside?"

She was kind of reluctant to go in some secret place with a stranger. She didn't have much choice though, it was either this, or starving out on the streets again.

You walked in with the little girl. You assumed Toga was getting the bags, and then coming in. 

Switching on the lights, the girl looked at all the banners and the large space you entered. "So what do you think?" You asked her.

"It's big, and kind of pretty." Then her stomach growled and she held her stomach. 

"You look hungry, do you want something to eat?" She slowly nodded, almost as if she was ashamed to ask. "Alright I'll start making some food, feel free to look around a little bit." You gave her a smile and walked towards the kitchen area behind the meeting hall.

Despite giving her the go ahead to wander, she stuck close to you. She was probably worried something would get her. She was kind of right though, because as soon as you opened the door to the living quarters, you were tackled by M. "Down girl, down. I know you missed me, but we have guests."

You looked past M to see the girl laughing at you. "Your dog is silly." M then got off of you and moved to the girl. The child must've noticed and asked, "Your dog isn't mean is it?" You didn't say anything, and just waited for M to do her thing. 

M then licked her face over and over and knocked her down to sit on the floor. The girl was laughing and having a good time with M. You left them to play and grabbed a few fruits and made a sandwich.

While you were doing that Toga walked past you and put the bags down in the room. She didn't come back out though. She was waiting to be introduced to the girl. Probably didn't want to spook her. 

After putting the last piece of bread on top, you turned around to see the girl still playing with M. "Alright, it's all done." She got up off of the floor and made her way over to the sandwich you prepared for her.

As soon as she saw the apple, her eyes widened, and she started drooling. "Applllllleeee." She seemed like a zombie finding a brain.

You chuckled and waited for her to finish eating. Then the questions started, "So do you mind telling me what you were doing out there?"

She looked down in sadness, "I'm cursed, my quirk made my daddy go away, and then my mommy didn't want me anymore. I was supposed to go to my grandpa's but he isn't around anymore." She then started to cry.

Seeing the tears start to build up, you moved over to her, and enveloped her in a hug. "It's ok now, I'm here." 

Then she started crying and telling you your story in between sobs. "Then *sob* mom kicked me out* and then, I had to survive. *sob*"

Her story was a mixture of yours and Toga's. Being kicked out and living a more nomadic lifestyle. You felt sympathy for her. "Shhh, it's alright. How about you stay with us?"

Her breath hitched, "But why, I'm cursed, *sob* and I don't deserve it."

"Because you're just like me, and my partner. You're alone, and need help, just like we did. Then we found and helped each other. And you're not cursed, you just need to learn. Just like everyone." 

 She started to calm down, "What's your name mister?"

You let go of the hug and did a mock bow, "Y/N Kenway at your service." 

She giggled and it was the most adorable thing ever. "Nice to meet you Y/N I'm Eri."

"Well Eri, do you wanna see what the rest of this place has to offer?" She nodded, and with that, you grabbed her hand and took her for a tour around the Sanctuary.
