*AN: Sorry for the late chapter, I've been sick this weekend, and had a tiny bit of writer's block

She needed to know the truth.

You grabbed the katana from it's stand and examined it for a bit. "Eri, our organization, doesn't just make bad guys disappear. We kill people, we commit a horrible sin to allow freedom in the world." You looked up at her to see her have an indescribable face. It seemed like she was showing empathy to you. Something you weren't expecting.
"I know." You look up at her slightly bewildered, you made sure that was kept a secret from her. "It's not all that hard to figure out, what with all the weapons, and fighting training. Plus the word assassin is in the dictionary, it's really easy to figure out." Now you just felt dumb. Or she was really smart for a 6 year old.
You just sighed and rubbed the bridge of your nose, "God I'm an idiot."
Eri giggled, "Yeah, but you're still my dad. I can tell this took a lot for you."
You gave a grim smile, "You have no idea."
She shuffled her feet a little bit, "Dad, can you tell me your story? With everything I've learned of past Assassins, I wanted to learn about you the most."
Eri was a sweet girl, wasn't she? "Yeah, let's go find a better place to sit though." You both made your way to the private room. You still had Kage Kaizoku, you felt as though it was an important part of your story. Same with your mother's sword. It didn't have a name as far as you were concerned. You didn't have the right to name it.
Both swords held an importance to you, but they couldn't be even considered similar at all. From their forging, to their culture, and all the way to who wielded them. You sat down and looked at the small girl across from you. "So where do you want me to start?"
She seemed to think about it for a bit. Then she grew a simple smile "How about from the beginning?"
You nodded, and began from where your journey did. Your mother's death. Then moved on to your time on the streets learning much of what she did and more. How you finally found the sanctuary, and the training you did when you got there. Your first kill, and how you handled that. Your first mission and how it resulted in you meeting Toga.
"If you want her point of view ask her about it." She nodded and you continued, from killing the Yakuza leader all the way up to when you two met her. "You know, what happened, after this point, because we met you."
She was silent throughout your whole retelling of your life. Then you could visibly see her take it all in. Her eyes dilated and tears started to well up. Before they could fall, you were already across the table and had her in an embrace.
She cried, and you kind of wanted to as well. You haven't really reflected on your life in a short span like this. "You went through so much." Eri was quiet but understandable.
You rubbed her back, "Everyone here has." You then leaned back so you could look each other in the eyes, "Now, are you ready to pick your weapon?"
She looked at the katana then looked back in the direction of the door, then back. "Can I pick Kage Kaizuko?"
For what seemed like the umpteenth time you were surprised by Eri. "Why?"
She seemed to get embarrassed at this question, "It's important to you, and I'm important to you. So together, we'll be the most important to you." She then smiled at you.
God she's adorable. "You're already the most important thing to me. If that's what you want though, I won't stop you. Plus it's more of a fighting sword, than a display sword."
You handed her the sword, but it was too big for her. She had to pretty much hug the sword to make sure it didn't fall. "I won't let you down dad!"
You two made it to the middle room where you instructed her to take the sword from the sheathe and helped her with the stance and weight. It might be beneficial to see who her ancestors were. Someone might be able to allow her to learn swordsmanship.
This was how the impromptu family spent their time together. Work, play, eat, sleep, repeat. It was simple, but they were happy. Sometimes the cycle would be broken by certain events, like when they tested Eri for possible ancestral matches.
Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you looked at it, one of her ancestors was the Yakuza boss. You decided to wait for her to learn swordsmanship from him.
You could probably isolate the memories of him training with the sword, but it might be a situation where she has to relive them up to that point. Until you were sure, waiting was the best option.
You gave her instruction in the mean time teaching her how to balance her weight, and how to swing it.
Just because she was using weapons now didn't mean that she slacked off in her other training. She kept learning how to climb, run, and free-run and to give her incentive you told her that if she could climb up to the top shelves, you'd let her pick out her robes for the future.
A little secret reward for her reaching that shelf was teaching her how to use her Eagle Vision.
Your cycle was to about to come to an end though. The U.A. entrance exam was upon you. This one day could make or break the entire liberation effort.
You and Toga mentally prepared, and you made sure to rehearse your name, Y/N L/N. You made sure to stick in your head.
Giving Eri a kiss on the forehead, and petting M. You and Toga made your way to U.A. unarmed and ready for whatever was thrown at you.
