"Who are you?" Link asked the Old Man who had come out of the hut
"I am Dampé" the man said
"Dampe?" Link asked
"Yes" Dampe replied "I am the caretaker of the Graveyard here, although I really stay inside my hut"
"Why?" Link asked
"Nobody buries their dead here anymore" Dampe sighed "This Graveyard is the darkest place in Hyrule, and it holds disturbing knowledge that I'd rather not know. If you go in, it will drag you deeper and deeper until you are pulled into hell"
"That's creepy" Link said
"I know" Dampe said "That's what the kids who came to vandalize this place a few years ago said, but they never came back"
"Oh"
"Besides" Dampe said "There are Ghinis, Stalfos, and Gibdos that haunt the Graveyard, so it's kinda dangerous"
"I've fought Lynels" Link ignored Dampe's warnings, and walked into the Graveyard
Dampe shook his head as he walked back into his hut.
Link gazed upon the creepy gravestones, and sliced down a Gibdo that attacked him.
Link found a large tunnel at the end of the Graveyard, and a sign read: DO NOT ENTER. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Link went inside the tunnel, cut down a Ghini, and kept walking.
He noticed nothing abnormal about the tunnel, or temple was probably more accurate.
Inside this dark temple was many rooms, halls, and platforms filled with un-dead monsters that Link had to kill.
In one room the ceiling had strings with axes, and blood was on the ground.
There were chains in the room, and skeletons in the chains that looked like the skeletons of old Zora and Gerudo.
Link kept going through temple, and he had to avoid saws that were swinging left and right.
One chained up Goron skeleton had a label on it reading: Prisoner #45: Goron General Darbus.
Link looked away in horror
What is this place? Some kind of torture area?
The Hyrulean Symbol was plastered in each room of the temple, as well as the Sheikah symbol.
Link found an old diary on the ground, and read it after wiping off the dust.
Journal entry 456 of Sheikah Ninja Yazaka's Diary: it read I have now killed a Rito Prince for the sake of this horrible war. Why must the Hyrule Civil War go on like this! When we will get a new king to replace King Daltus, one that can rule Hyrule! I've talked with the young Sheikah Chief, Impa, and she says to continue the operations! I wonder how many people in Hyrule know that beneath Kakariko Village there is a Sheikah Fortress where prisoners of war are brutally tortured. I- I- can't take this anymore. I have to end myself
Link now knew that this was all a torture chamber from the Hyrule Civil War.
No wonder it was haunted with un-dead monsters, covered in blood, and feared by Dampe.
Link found a skeleton in another room, and learned a horrible truth
"Prisoner #45: Queen of the Zoras" the name of the queen had faded away
"Oh hylia" Link remembered King Dorephan being angry at the hylians because his wife, Mipha and Sidon's mother, had been killed during the Hyrule Civil War.
And this skeleton prisoner right here leftover from the Hyrule Civil War was the skeleton of the Zora Queen....
This is Mipha and Sidon's mother
Link tried not to think about how they would react if he ever dared to tell them of this.
Link kept walking through the Sheikah Fortress, and the next room contained the bloody skeleton of a hylian king
"Prisoner #5670: King Daltus" a poster read "Former King of Hyrule until replaced by King Daphnes due to corruption. Hopefully war can end now"
The Next room was even more horrifying.
Wallmasters on the walls and Floormasters on the floor began to reach out toward Link, those creepy hand creatures.
In one blood covered room, two floormasters grabbed Link's legs and pulled, as two wallmasters grabbed Link's arms and pulled.
Link couldn't take it anymore. They would pull his limbs off.
Link broke the silence of the old bloody fortress
He screamed pain.
The atmosphere seemed to change as everything got a lot warmer and brighter, and the un-dead monsters all disappeared, and the monsters let go of Link and fleed.
The next hallway seemed to be pulling Link in like a magnet, and a bright light suddenly appeared at the end of the long hall, and was getting closer and closer, and two red eyes formed within the orange light.
The voice of the gods whispered in Link's ear
"Run"
Link dashed back as fast as he could, knowing that something terrible was behind him.
He didn't dare look back, and just dashed through the previous rooms.
He got to the first room of the fortress again, and the bright light was catching up to him, he could feel it.
The Hero still didn't dare look back, as he ran out of the tunnel and back into the Kakariko Graveyard.
Link sighed in relief, and looked back.
The tunnel leading to the Sheikah Fortress was gone, and the Graveyard was no longer shrouded in dark shadows.
There was also no trace of un-dead monsters anymore.
Link walked past the gates, and over to Dampe's Hut
"I don't know what you've done boy" Dampe grumbled "But it's changed this Graveyard, in a good way"
"Yeah, it looks like it" Link agreed
"Did you get to the end of the fortress?" Dampe asked as Link turned to leave
"No" Link replied "There was something down there though. Something evil"
"Perhaps that fortress really does lead to hell then" Dampe chuckled "You'll lucky you got out of there while there was still time"
