The Princess and the Kaitou

Chapter 23

It's already thursday, Queen and her mother now playing chess, well more like the Queen is the one teaches her daughter how to play chess. Since Queen is bored and don't know what to do, she decided to try a new hobby.

"Checkmate"

"Huh?" Queen blinked and looked at the board in confused. This is her 13th time she lost, unknowingly.

The queen give her daughter a gentle smile. She already knew her daughter didn't understand how she lose the game... "don't tell me you don't know about it..."

Queen slouched on her chair, she don't care it unlady like but she dosen't have a mood for being a proper lady. "I don't know anything about chess.... I don't even know how I lose... I mean c'mon! It dosen't make any sense!"

Her mother sigh heavily "don't lose your temper, I don't want to see you made a ruckus in this palace... just like what happen to that knight you've knock out a month ago"

"Mama... " she groaned "I'm so tired being in here, it's like a prison... I know papa was overprotective but I can't believe he do that too far!"

"I know darling gem, he just don't want you in dangered since..." she sadly sigh then continues "his sister..."

Queen stared at her mother in confused and surprised face, she never heard about her father had a sister... "Papa has a sister? I've never heard of her..."

Her mother arched her brow, confused "You never heard of her? Your aunt?"

"Well, you and papa never talk about her... and I was supposed to study about our family lineage but the...." She winced a bit and she feel disgusted and akward "the lighting emerald is stolen..."

The queen sigh as she massaged her temple"Oh right... the lighting emerald also to holds the family's records..."

Of course, not only that the lighting emerald can only light up when the new member of Emerald is born... but also a records of Emerald family's lineage.

Few months ago, she was supposed to study her family's lineage, but until Joker's advance notice came in and her father start on high security in the treasure room and also the palace, so she's not allowed to check or study the emerald anymore.

Damn you Joker.

"Yeah.... " she trailled a bit, feeling akward. She knew Joker had it but she feel a bit funny kind of akward that she fell and talk to Joker for the pass months "so that you mention it, can you tell me about her... about my aunt..." she said. She just want to know about her, this is the first time she heard about her aunt and she just want to know about her...

She sadly smile the nodded "Well... Her name is Quintessa, but her family called her 'Queen'... that's where your name after her nickname...."

Queen is surprise made her mother giggled, seeing her daughter's reaction "I know you've surprised... she's your father's older sister and the next line to the throne, your father adore her so much, she and him were the dinamic siblings, really close siblings.... but on that night... she's stabbed on the heart, dead, when she's asleep on her bed and stolen something from her..." she swallowed heavily then continues "it was a really small hourglass, a neckless called the Stardust time... your father is devastated, and your grandparents declared him to be their new heir.... when we have you, he decided to name you after her and vow himself to be a greatest ruler for her and also to protect you... he don't want to let anything happen to you"

Queen hearing these stories made her heart broke. She never knew her father been through so much, for many years, he just doing doing those protectiveness for her, for her daughter.

She sigh sadly, not only that her father's hard pass but hearing the story about her aunt was heart breaking. She sound like wonderful person. "How is she...? When she died..."

"She was 16... she died so young. I always wanted to meet her, she's sound so wonderful person when your father told me about her... that's the reason why your father don't lose you so young"

Queen nodded, understanding her father's purpose of his overprotectiveness.

Queen is now staring at her mirror while maid trying to help her strings done behinfd her dress. Queen winced a bit, feeling tightness of her midsection.

Her maid notice her discomfort "to tight?"

Queen nodded then she continue to lossen up her dress, she sigh in relief.

"Time for your hair..." she grabed the brush, until she heard Queen's phone ringing.

Queen turn to her maid "can you look at whose calling"

The maid nodded check Queen's phone and saw the I.D. number, her eyes widened "It's Joker, your highness"

"Joker?"

She nodded, handing the phone to Queen, starting to brush her hair. Queen answer it on put on desk and set it on speaker. "Hello? Joker?"

"Hi Queen... how are you?"

Queen smiled, as he hearing his voice "I'm fine... just fixing my hair.... so I can start eating lunch with my family..."

"Oh... good... hey Queen, can I ask you something...."

Queen arched her brow, confused.... he sound so nervous or something...

"What is it?"

"I want to invite to my dinner party this thursday... tonight"

The two eyes widened, surprised. That was the unexpected invitation she heard. She glanced at her maid, the same reaction as she did, then she went back, talk to Joker.

"Joker uhm-"

"Look.. I know your father... forbid you to not go outside without an bodygaurd or whatever... but I just want to see you again.... I really miss you Queen... Its been a month now and I want to see once more..."

Queen's heart start to beat, bashfully guilty from the words he said. She never see or be with him for a month. She really miss his devillishly smile and his blue eyes face.

She glanced at her maid telling her if she agree or not. The maid mouthed her 'It's your decision'. She glanced back at her phone on the table, thinking of her decision.

If she say yes, she'll meet Joker again but the most worried part is her father. She already know what happen to her father's past but he really want to see Joker so badly.

Queen took a deep breath and answer and smile... I'm sorry papa "Sure of course... I will"

"Really? Great..."

"But... how I can go to your dinner party... I can't leave the palace with-" be she cut off by his snarky laugh, she really miss this laugh of his.

"Hehehe... don't worry, I'll help you sneak you out the palace, and after dinner I'll help you sneak in"

Queen hummed in agreement "do you think it'll work?"

"Don't worry about it... besides "he sigh" .....this is our last chance to see each other" he sadly said.

Queen sadly smiled "Mhm... your right"

"Hehe... I'm always right... I'll pick you in the balcony at 8, okay" he said then ended the call.

The momment of paused of silent, her maid already done with her hair and gently put down the brush on her vanity. She heard groan and look at her princess leaning in her desk, arm crossed on her desk.

"What I'm gonna do...."

"I don't know... it's your choice..." she said went to fixing the bed.

Queen was deep in thought until she heard a question from her maid that she maid her more scared and change her life forever.

"When are you gonna tell your parents about Joker?"
