Chapter 32: Old "Friends"

Sam's POV

"Dylan! You're back." I said whispering and trying to get up but realizing I can't because of this stupid cast. He noticed the cast and frowned.

"I thought I told you not to walk and chew gum at the same time before I left." he said jokingly.

"Well if i knew you were coming i wouldn't have chewed gum." I said jokingly.

"Same old Sam."

I went back to work but I could feel eyes on me. I took a risk and looked next to me and sure enough Dylan was staring at me. I look to the other side and see Collin also staring at me.

I could tell he was mad that i knew Dylan.

Throughout the whole period I was stared at but sometimes they would go back to their work.

Finally the end of the period came and Collin jumped his desk and ran up to me to take me to my next class.

"Hey Sam what period do you have next?" Dylan asked while I was standing up. I was about to respond but Collin beat me to it.

"She has Spanish so now if you'll excuse us I'll be taking my girlfriend to her class before she is late."

I glared at Collin. Why was he so rude. I gave Dylan a small smile before leaving.

"Collin that was rude. Why did you do that?" I asked him shoving his arm off of me.

He hesitated and looked hurt, "I know and I'm sorry. I didn't want you to be late for class." It sounded more of a question than an answer. Is Collin jealous? Probably.

"So tell me how you know Dylan." I stopped and thought.

"Sam?"

"Oh uh we were best friends before he moved away." I said giving him a reassuringly smile.

Liar.

I know I should tell him the truth but how am I going to say 'Dylan used to be my boyfriend before he moved away. And I'm pretty sure we didn't exactly break up.' Yeah not that easy.

So here is Dylan's bio. We met back in third grade. It was me, dylan and Ellie. Dylan is Australian and has curly mohagony hair. Dylan and i were really friendly, we got to the point where i could jump on his back and he would carry me around. It was cool we grew closer every day and Ellie felt like she was the third wheel but she would never be.

One day all the kids in our class started saying we were going out so being us we played along. But i soon found out he did have feelings for me and i did too. We dated for the whole year and he earned the spot of being my first boyfriend.

But the year ended and he was moving away. But he promised me one thing before he left. That he would come back when we started middle school. So i waited 4th and 5th grade.

Finally it was middle school time but he was no where to be found so i gave up. But now he has come back and i realized we never broke up. But back to reality.

We walked into class and Collin left but before he did he told Matty to help me if I needed it.

I groaned. I can take care of myself.

"Hey Sam? How come the others looked shocked and afraid when Dylan was the new kid? And what's with you and Dylan any way?"Matty said.

"We are old friends and the others were worried because of the last time we got a new kid remember?", I chuckled.

But he was looking at me seriously. "Ok funny now tell me the truth."

"I did."

"No you didn't"
