Chapter 39: The Make Olympics

Maribel's pov

Jake and I just finished our shift for the day. We were heading towards Jake's car when I got a text from Sam. I began replying when Jake groaned. I gave him a look.

"Come on Maribel, you type so slow. Type faster."

"Excuse me. At least I can run faster than you and beat you in laser tag." I shot back.

Jake scoffed, "But I can play better in soccer than you and other things."

"Oh really? But who beat you up in 7th grade in front of all the guys? I bet I can still beat you up!" I yelled at him raising my hands up dramatically .

"Well maybe because I let you! You know what, lets have a competition. We'll see who's better!" He yelled. "Fine!" I yelled back.

"Fine!" He responded and I walked away. Then I remembered he's my only way home. I walked back to his car which he already had the passenger seat opened for me.

"Thank you." I told him. He nodded and closed the door for me. The way to my house was silent but Jake broke it once we were in front of my house.

"Sorry about yelling at you. I um got you this before the argument." He took out a build-a-bear and handed it to me.

"Aw Jake. You do know this is my first build a bear right? Thanks but we are still having the competition tomorrow right?"

"If course! See you tomorrow?"

"Yep." I kissed him and walked into my house. Can't wait for tomorrow.

Its morning so I get up and changed after I was done I headed downstairs. The others were there and I was slightly confused. "We are the judges." Collin said. Sam as always was on his lap.

"Alright, let the Olympics begin. First challenge, eating 20 chocolate chip pancakes!" Niall said. We headed to the kitchen and thankfully my parents left.

We walk in and see two plates of chocolate chip pancakes. Each one has a least 20. "Who made these?" I asked.

"I did." Sam said proudly. Jake and I stood in front of a plate as Kyle took out his phone for a stopwatch.

"Ready, set, go!"Ellie yells. As soon as i hear her say go i start eating the pancakes. I kept eating and almost choked but I was on my last bite when Jake said, "I win! In your face!" Sam, our score keeper, gave one point to Jake.

Sam grabbed one of the left over pancakes and let Collin take a bite. After Collin chewed all the pancake and swallowed it he said.

"Alright, follow me and we'll go to the next event." We followed Collin back into the living room where papers and pencils await us.

"So 3 rounds of tic-tac toe and 2 rounds of hangman. For hangman, you guys have to guess Alice and Niall's word or words." Collin explained, " Whole thing equals 3 points. Ready? Go!"

This tic tac toe were fairly easy since I'm playing with Jake who lacked of strategy. Right now we are about to begin hangman and Alice does the first word. Her words were two words and I recognized it immediately. "Larry Stylinson."

Alice raised her eyebrows in surprisment. "Correct." I high fived her. Jake grunted as we waited for Niall's word or words. Niall drew the lines and it was a one word and five letters. "A?" Jake said and Niall wrote A. So its the first letter of the word. "E?" I asked. And E was the last letter. Jake said I and it was the middle letter. "Alice." Jake said. "Correct." Niall said looking over at Alice. These guys are cute.

"Where to next?" I asked Sam. "Mario cart!" She yelled. I gulped. I've never played Mario cart before. We all walked out to the cars to go to Sam's house. Sam, Collin, Ellie, and Kyle sat in the back of Jake's car with him driving and me in the passenger seat.

Alice, Niall, and Annemarie went in Matty's car. I was nervous and I guess Jake could tell since he held my hand and squeezed it to reassure me.

I smiled and rested my head on his shoulder. Jake held my hand on the way to Sam and his house. When we got there everyone got out of the car. Sam opened the door and as always Humphrey was there to greet us.

He loves everyone except Collin. Sam started up her game console and got out the remotes. She handed one over to Jake then me.

The guys picked rainbow road which is said was unfair because i have never played this game before. So we ended up  picking the first road which was the easiest.

I ended up losing. There were other non-athletic events like hide and seek, trivia questions, uno, and gambling. I won the trivia questions, and gambling.

Jake won the uno and hide and seek. Then we did athletic events. The events were racing, soccer, basketball, baseball and laser tag. I won the race and laser tag while Jake won the rest. It was a tie for soccer. In the end, we were both exhausted.

"Who's the winner?" I asked between breaths. "Its actually a tie. 7 to 7." Sam replied. "What!? Did you count right? I'm pretty sure I won." Jake said.

"I know how to count Jake. Its a tie. Be glad about that because if one of you guys won, it would have became an argument and could make you guys break up." Sam said. I looked at Jake and said,"She's right."

Jake sighed and looked at me. He stretched out his arms awaiting me to hug him. I gladly walked to him, hugged him, and gave him a kiss in the cheek. "Lets go home, I'm exhausted." I told him. He nodded. And that was how our day was.

Today we hand the first ever, Make Olympics. But I'll beat him for sure next year.
