Word got out about Eren. During our late night meal practically everyone was informed.
So much for trust.
But I guess they would have all figured it out soon. Hange had given a speech about it before we got our every day food; soup, bread, and water.
"We won't take any action just yet. Right now we have to wait for Commander Erwin and Captain Levi to return from their journey. The commander will then give us a plan of how we'll get Eren back home without causing a massive war to break out..."
After those words, I block out her voice, staring at the wood of the table.
I imagine Levi coming back to the headquarters. He'll have a fit about Eren running off to Marley without permission. I smile to myself knowing how much shit that bastard is in.
"Mind if we join you?" Mikasa ask. Armin stands behind her looking upset about the news.
I snap back to the present. Hange's stopped speaking and the cadets are wolfing down their food.
"Oh, uh, sure," I respond.
They claim the bench across from me. The first few minutes are filled with small chats. How my training is coming along, so on and so forth.
"I saw you limping out of the forest," Armin ejaculates, "during my chores. We've heard rumors going around that you chased after him."
Mikasa gives me a blank stare. They both want an answer out of me to either confirm or deny the rumor.
"Yeah. It's true. I went after him."
"Why didn't you inform section Commander Hange?" Armin presses on.
"It would have been quicker to catch up to him if I'd have gone alone."
"What did he say to you?"
His friend's mouth twitches. Her eyes are now dull, and her hand clamps around the spoon like she'll die without it. I watch my hands fidget with my each other. I can still feel her eyes drilling in my skull.
"What did he say to you?" the blonde soldier repeats.
"I'm done answering questions, let me eat." As I stand up to go to another table, Mikasa rushes over and grabs me by the collar of my shirt.
"The Eren I know wouldn't run off without us! Why wouldn't he want us to come with him?" she raises her voice. Her grip tightens and pulls me closer so her face is in mine.
"I don't know."
"You're lying! What happened between you two?"
"He's going to Marley, Mikasa! He wants to be the disobedient soldier that gets killed the second he steps foot on our enemie's grass! I can't tell you what's going on in his fucked up mind!" I scream at her. "Now let go of me!"
The door opens slowly, and Levi walks through. He stops when he sees Mikasa holding me a few inches above the ground.
"Erwin..." he looks at Hange.
My heart beats rapidly and my teeth clench. There's a certain dark aroma in the air. I can tell everyone senses it too.
"Died."
