We mourned in our own heads the whole way back to the walls. Eren and the kids that snuck aboard are taken behind bars for obvious reasons.
Levi takes me to his office while Hange goes off in her own direction. A look of pension rests on her face and she doesn't look in the direction of us. Levi's grip on my shoulder tightens, pulling me closer to his body.
"Sit," he commands, forcing my body to sink into the chair. The scratches on his hand stopped bleeding.
His expression softens after he closes the door, and he fishes around in his pocket. A reddish pink stone glistens from the light and my eyes widen. I reach my hand out.
Levi leans back in his seat, holding the necklace away from me; the opposite of what I wanted him to do. I scrunch my eyebrows together in confusion.
"What is this?" he questions.
"It's been in my family for decades, I would like to have it returned."
"Why would Eren need jewelry? I highly doubt a man would put up such a fight as he did over something sparkly." He fiddles with the chain. "Mr. (L/n) didn't say anything to you about why this is valueable?"
"No. Give it back," I snap at him. I'm surprised how he gives very little reaction to me raising my voice. I was preparing for a slap on the cheek, or punishment of some kind. His eyes only slide up slowly to meet mine.
"Tch."
Levi walks over to me and clasps the necklace together around my neck.
"Whatever the hell it is, be cautious. People like Eren don't take something without reason," he tells me.
The conversation leaves a sour taste in my mouth, but we decide to leave it alone for now.
Walking to the mess hall, I feel a wave of homesickness in the pit of my stomach. Having to be reminded of my father makes me want to go home. The feeling only grows bigger and stronger.
My legs act on their own, travelling out of headquarters. They take the path that I've been staring at for a while now.
I then run.
I forget about everything.
I forget about Sasha's death.
I forget about Levi's promise to me.
I just want to run back.
I want to be surrounded with what I've been raised in for all my life.
I want to be home.
