Know You Better

The next day is chaotic as hell. Levi gave me so much paperwork to do that needs to be done before noon. But I have to help Armin, Mikasa, and Jean with new war tactics at eleven.

And it's already ten.

I'm nowhere near halfway done with the papers.

"(Y/n), please, you have to help me!" Hange cries from down the hall, waving her arms frantically.

"What is it-"

"The new recruits I hired to fix up new equipment have no clue what the fuck they're doing! They can't follow even the simplest of directions like creating a design! Ahhh!"

"Okay, okay," I place my hand on her shoulder while gripping the thousands of papers closer to my sore chest so I dont drop them.

I look out the window to the sky, figuring out how much time I have.

"I'll be there in ten minutes."

"We need you now!" Hange exclaims.

I exhale sharply, feeling my blood pressure rise. "Okay."

She takes me back to her lab and I see two younger kids standing around a table passing around a large sheet. When they notice me they pretend they know what they're talking about, but their expressions show genuine confusion.

I snatch the paper, already knowing I won't like whatever comes out of their mouths.

"Go," I fling my hand around, "Go away. Take a lunch break."

I examine the print and critic the things that need to be adjusted or removed. I leave Hange some suggestions about stronger thunderspears.

"You need to get people that actually understand what they're looking at," I tell her.

She stares at me in awe.

"You're amazing! You should be on my team!"

"I don't know about that," I say hesitantly, "I've been kept super busy by Levi this past week."

"I can make arrangments." She winks at me then gasps. "What's that?!'

Hange points at my left hand, to my ring.

"Damn, he did you good!" she exclaims. "I didn't think he'd have the balls to propose."

"Um-"

"When's the wedding?! I'm gonna be there right?!"

"Of course-"

She squeals with excitement.

"Hange, I really have to get back-"

"Oh, right, right, right. We both have important things to do." Hange hugs me tightly around the shoulders. "You're gonna name the baby after me, right?" she whispers.

I pull away from her. "Maybe."

Her smile grows wider and she waves at me as I exit the room to get back to work. Once the door is closed behind me, I book it.

Levi's gonna kill me. Levi's gonna kill me. Levi's gonna kill me.

It's not a far distance to his office, so I'm able to get there within a minute.

I barge in unannounced and startle Levi.

"I'm s-sorry..." I pant, holding out the papers that are completed. "I've only gotten these done so far. Hange wanted me to help her with the equipment and it ended up taking longer than I thought."

He stares at me for a second with a blank expression, then takes the paperwork.

"I can't stay long. I have to meet Armin and Mikasa to talk about strategies and..." I groan slightly, "I'm really exhausted."

"Sit."

"Did you not hear me? I can't stay-"

"I heard you."

I pull up a chair to sit next to him. He instinctively takes my hand.

"You're working too hard. That's not good for our tiny brat," he says.

"It's just a little running around. I can handle it."

"I'm not doubting that you can handle it, I'm worried that the baby can't handle it. Being on your feet for long periods of time and stressing over little things can also stress the brat out."

A hum lingers in my throat as my response. I don't like Levi going all factual on me about my pregnancy, it creeps me out.

"I'll meet with the other cadets in your place."

"Are you stupid?" I blurt. "You have a completely different mindset from me."

"It won't be hard for me to act like you," he tells me.

"Oh?"

Levi sighs then gets up from his chair and paces around the room, impersonating my own walk. I laugh at how dumb he looks swinging his hips and adding a bit of sass to the hands.

He crouches in front of me and smiles a tiny bit.

"I do know you more than you think."

"You're crazy is what you are."

Levi grabs my hand and kisses it lightly. Then he stands up, kisses my forehead, and leaves.

I make a mental note to ask Jean how Levi acted during the meeting.
