Mikasa drops me.
At this moment the sound of metal clanking against the floor fills the silence. Hange rises to her feet, a look of horror and disbelief across her face.
"No way..." we hear Connie's shaking voice from behind my table. All of us are in complete shock.
Levi looks sad and exhausted. Dark circles live under his eyes. He still manages to seem intimidating even when he's going through a lot.
He leaves the dining room, ordering us to wake up an hour earlier than usual. I quickly follow Levi down the hall and stop in front of him. When he gazes at me I can really see how much sleep he's lost.
"I have a lot of work to do," he says, moving around me.
"You need sleep." I grab his wrist and step in front of him again.
"I need you to stop getting in my way."
"You just experienced the loss of someone important," I protest.
"(Y/n), I'm asking you nicely to move-"
"No."
Levi picks me up, sits me down in a corner, and places his foot on my bruised leg to make me stay. With him not knowing I was injured, I wince.
He takes his foot off and continues down his path.
"Did you miss me at all?" I yell.
Levi pauses for a moment.
With his back still facing me, he answers:
"It was nice not having an annoying, little girl always up my ass."
I clench my teeth and reach for the necklace my dad gave me. All I get is the feeling of my own skin. The anger replaces with panic.
I lost the necklace.
I lost my ancestors' necklace.
My focus switches to where I last had it. Who was I with? Sasha wouldn't have taken it, she seems like the kind to steal food not items. And Levi wouldn't either, he knows how important it is to me. The other one that I've been in contact with...
"Eren."
Saying the name leaves a vile taste in my mouth. My heart pumps faster with each memory that comes back into my brain of him.
My feet plant themselves in front of Levi's office door. After what happened I don't think he'd want to see me.
But fuck that! He needs to get over his feelings, this is important.
I barge in unannounced, bumping into the captain himself. Levi glares down at me. I return the look just to piss him off even more, but I soon get over that.
"My necklace is gone. Eren stole it from me when I was with him," I inform him.
Levi's expression falters and I notice a bit of love behind those hard eyes.
"We'll head out first thing in the morning. Go inform the other brats then come back to my office." The last part is barely a whisper, but yet I heard it loud and clear. I know by the look in his eyes that he missed me.
Hey! Sorry for keeping y'all waiting so long for the next chapter! I've been really busy. But that's what all late publishers say, right? I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter and I'll be coming out with the next one in a few days!
