"You can leave," I tell Armin when we reach Eren Jeager's cell. The blonde looks almost concerned for me.
"I don't think the captain would appreciate me leaving you down here by yourself," he says.
"Then pray you don't bump into him."
Although my comrade is fighting his instincts, he walks away and trusts that I'll be cautious.
"How can you stand people like that?" Eren starts behind bars. "Thinking you're not strong enough to carry your own, that's not friendship."
"He left, didn't he? That shows he does think I'm capable of not feeling threatened by you."
In an instant, he grips the metal bars and looks down at me with an angry scowl.
"What about me?" he growls.
I mentally shake off the split second shock I have. I step forward, grab the same bars Eren's holding, and send back a dead stare.
"Where are the two Marleyans?" he asks.
"Not with you."
"Trying to act like the tough guy now, (Y/n)? You've lost yout touch since you became attached to the Scout Regiment."
"You must be blind, the mirror is right beside you," I tell him.
"Why did you come down here?"
I release my grip from Eren's cell and pull up a chair for me to rest in.
"My necklace-"
"Oh, right," he cuts me off, "You want to know what importance it has and why I want it."
I give him silence as a response.
"I don't have an answer myself. Are we done now?" Eren takes a seat on the creaky mattress.
"What do you mean?" I press. I wait for at least four minutes before Armin comes back.
"Captain Levi wants you," he informs me. He already knows what I'm about to say so he speaks again before I can protest. "Mikasa was the one that talked to him but it sounded pretty urgent."
I groan and push myself out of the chair.
"I'll put in a word to have those glasses be fixed up for you, Jeager." I smirk at the titan-shifter as I exit the prison.
I let go of my tense state when we meet Levi outside. The small breeze cools me down from the hot anger I was beginning to feel under my skin.
Levi excuses Armin back inside then takes my hand and leads me to the horses.
"What are we doing?" I ask.
He climbs onto his own horse and motions for me to hop on also.
"Where are we going?" I continue as I adjust my feet and lunge myself upright.
"You ask too many questions, brat."
The horse gallops at a steady pace under the tiny sliver of moon peaking out from behind the clouds. I try my hardest to forget about Eren but, dammit, I need to know what he meant.
I curse this short man for interrupting at a time like that.
I rest my head on his shoulder, contradicting my own thoughts.
He stops the horse at an open field where the moonlight coats the grass in a bright blue hue.
He helps me off the horse and we sit on the soft field.
"Why are we here?" I sprawl out on the ground.
"The night is beautiful right now," he finally confesses.
"So you intruded on a very serious conversation to take me outside and watch stars?"
Levi's eyes gaze at the passing, fluffy clouds. He then lowers his head and smiles to himself.
"I'm seriously getting freaked out right now," I tell him.
"I'm not good at this romanticism."
"You're really not."
"(Y/n)-"
"It's true-"
Levi shoves a hand over my mouth. "God, you get annoying when you talk too much. Just shut up and listen."
I'm suddenly intrigued by his movements as he reaches into his front pocket and fishes out a box.
"We promised we would get married if we came back from the Marley mission alive." He opens the box to reveal a small, pretty ring.
"Wait, wait. You interrupted my only time of getting answers out of Eren just to pop out a ring and propose?!" I question.
"Yes."
"What the hell, Levi-!"
"I brought a potato, too."
I snatch the warm potato and wolf it down within a minute.
"Will you marry me?" Levi holds the box closer to me, bringing me back to the main reason why he did this.
I notice a hint of nervousness on his face and decide to calm down before I do something else that'll fuck up this evening.
I smile at him, tears in the corners of my eyes.
"Of course."
