"It's not a crime to think he's cute!" Alyssa throws her hands in the air amid her frustration, the volume of her tone earning harsh glares from the students studying only a few tables nearby. She had been explaining to Blaise and an uninterested Draco that a girl could find someone cute without having active feelings for them. Specifically, Dean Thomas. "Right, Mauve?" I nod absentmindedly, drumming my overgrown fingernails on the desk. I really should trim them soon.

Blaise peers at her confused, pointing at me with a limp finger. "But Mauve said she had a crush on someone, and she also thinks Dean is cute." I sigh at the puzzled look on his face.

"Dude," Theo pats him on the back, pulling out the earbud that's connected to Fin's phone — the two were hardly paying any attention to the rest of us, and instead are watching some quote-unquote 'reality TV show'. "This is why you're failing potions."

Blaise rolls his eyes, swiftly smacking the back of his head. "That insult is so overused, find a better one." He huffs, crossing his arms in frustration.

Theo isn't phased as he places the earbud back into his ear, gesturing at Finley to continue playing the show. "Find a better grade and I'll consider it."

He grunts under his breath, muttering about how annoying his roommate is. The group had been bickering about Dean Thomas, of all people, for the past hour. Alyssa had mentioned that she thought Dean looked cute today, and I agreed, which caused a whole argument on whether or not Dean was the guy I was crushing on. Obviously Alyssa and Finley knew the truth, but the three Slytherins were pressingly curious on the matter.

When my eyes catch Draco's gaze, I internally freak out and look away. Stupid crush. Whilst having the conversation about Dean, Draco mentioned that he thought I could do better. Theo asked if by 'better' he meant him, which only earned a shrug from Draco. I was speechless during the exchange, not wanting to give myself false-hope by his lack of response.

It's almost laughable when I notice Dean himself walks through the large doors of the library. I nudge Alyssa, tilting my head towards his direction. Her eyebrows raise and she shakes her head, giving a look towards the boys. "Look, you can't say he looks cute today. Just look at him!" She urges with a harsh whisper, leaning forward so she didn't have to be as loud.

I eye him up with a thoughtful expression— she wasn't wrong, anyway. Dean Thomas had grown into a very attractive young man. He just simply isn't my type. I turn back to the group, finding Draco deeply scowling.

"I can't lie, I actually see it." Theo laughs, ensuring his voice is low enough not to attract anyone else's attention. We watch as Dean pulls out a book from his bag, sliding it over to the librarian. He flashes her a smile of thanks when she takes it. "Damn, Mauve. You've got taste." He brings his fingers to his mouth, imitating a chef's kiss jokingly.
