Kongphob brought him to a cozy restaurant by the seaside. It's got that homey feeling and the food aroma was so mouthwatering. They sat on the outdoor dining area, a bit far from the rest, and the older man gestured to a waiter that they'll be ordering.
"Phi, I don't have enough money to pay for expensive food right now. You've already paid for my bills earlier at the clinic. It will be too much if you will also pay for my food" Kan said in Thai.
Kongphob chuckled and tapped his hand. "It's alright Nong. Just repay when you are already capable. For now, let Phi take care of you, okay?" Just like that, the older man faced the waiter and ordered their food in fluent Italian.
Kan sighed and leaned back on his chair. He looked around the place and noticed its good spot. It was accessible to those enjoying the beach and working at the pier. Judging by its location, it wouldn't be far fetched that its specialty is seafood.
"It's not everyday I come across a fellow Thai and you just...need all the help you can get. It's not pity Kan...I don't know, I just felt compelled to help you back there and now too" Kongphob said.
"We just met Phi...what would your husband say if he sees you with me?" Kan asked with eyebrows raised.
"He will ask who he is with and why, like how a civilised person would" a fair skinned man with dimples said in Thai as he sat beside Kongphob and across Kan.
"Hello love" Kongphob greeted as he dropped a peck on the newly arrived man's lips. "This is Kantaphon Luang, Kan for short. I found him passed out near Via Roma. I had him checked before bringing him here" he said after.
"A pleasure to meet a fellow Thai in this place. I'm Arthit Suthilak, Kong's husband" he introduced himself to Kan and stretched a hand in greeting.
"Nice to meet you Phi" Kan said as he shook the offered hand before clasped his and gave a wai.
"The food will be here shortly" Arthit said with a smile.
"You own the place" realisation dawned to Kan. "Do you need an extra hand? I badly need a part time job to pay for my daily needs" he told the couple.
Arthit looked at his husband before looking back at Kan with a smile. "We could use an extra hand" he said as he stood up. "I'll check on the food and be back"
When Arthit turned around to leave, that is when Kan noticed the small bump in his stomach. "Phi, is he...?" He wasn't able to finish his question but stared at Kongphob's eyes, full of confusion.
"Yes, Arthit is five months pregnant with our second child. Our eldest is at home with his nanny. Would you like to meet him?" Kongphob said in a gentle manner. He understood the younger man's situation.
"Holy shit!" Kan suddenly cursed. "If I'm pregnant, it means I shouldn't be smoking...and since...oh my God!" He is starting to panic.
Kongphob reached out and placed a hand on Kan's shoulder. "Hey, relax Kan. We'll schedule a check up together with your P'Arthit's to see if any harm has been done and then we'll make sure that it doesn't happen again, okay?" He said as he kneeled beside him and looked in his eyes.
Kan nodded in agreement. "I'm still at a loss on what to do Phi but I know I can't afford to lose it" he said with a lump in his throat.
Just then, Arthit arrived with food on his tail. He saw how his husband tried to comfort the younger lad who was in panic earlier. He doesn't know what happened or who that man is, all he knows is that he wants to care for him and help him with all he can.
"Let's eat" Arthit said as he sat down while the waiter placed the food in front of them. "I'm not sure what you prefer so I had them prepare a platter with a sample of each dish" he told Kan as he gestured for him to start eating.
The couple looked fondly as Kan began to put food in his plate. They also began to fill their own plates and ate. As they ate in silence, they noticed Kan looking at them with a wistful smile from time to time.
"So, Kan. Tell us about yourself and what brought you here to Palermo" Arthit said just when he was about done eating.
Kan gave them another wistful smile. "What's there to tell. I left my life in Bangkok and chose to live here. I'm a struggling Engineering student, a now pregnant male at that" he said as he stirred his pasta with his fork on the plate.
Arthit smiled, full of understanding. "Being the reason behind why the heir of a well-known family can't uphold a contract made after his birth sure has impact. I left Thailand with the man I love to build our life here...and here we are. I'm sure you'll find your place in life too, maybe here or someplace else. Who knows?"
Kan looked at them tearfully before looking back at his plate. "I left because at that time, a baby was already involved...I didn't know we're about to have one too. Call me a coward but...I don't know...my fear ate me" he murmured but enough for the couple to hear.
"Our home is quite big. You can stay with us to lessen the burden of paying rent and you can concentrate on your studies and your baby" Kongphob said.
Kan was in deep thoughts and it took a while for him to respond. "I am in debt to both of you. You are so kind and you barely even know me. I'll help in the restaurant during my free time and...and...uhm"
"What is it Kan?" Arthit asked, gently.
"Uhm, you see...I...uhm..I do an online gaming business and I get a good sum of money from there to pay for my studies but..." Kan stuttered.
"How about you keep your earnings from that business of yours and let us take care of your studies. Use that money for your baby. You can pay us once you're already a succesful Engineer. What do you say?" Arthit said with a wink.
Kan was speechless and tearful at the same time. He feels so blessed to have met this couple.

A/N: And now I'm sleeping...I'm on night shift as always...but the plot is still running in my head.
For those asking about BasketLove...I have a chapyer in progress...just need to finetune details...a couple more paragraphs...might post it in the middle of the week.
For Without Me...maygahd...my most challenging story...it's draining me whenever I write it 😂😂😂 as I have to concetrate on my emotions when I write it...but yeah, I've also got a chapter ongoing for that...might post it on the weekend though.
